Today marks exactly one year, since Vagif Khachatryan, a 68-year old citizen of Artsakh, was kidnapped by Azerbaijan at the checkpoint on the Hakari bridge, while being transferred to Armenia with the assistance of @ICRC for an urgent medical treatment. This unprecedented and blatant breach of the international law stays unpunished and largely ignored by the international community to this day.
On 7 November, the court of Baku unlawfully sentenced Vagif Khachatryan to 15 years in prison under fabricated charges. The same destiny awaits all Armenian POWs and the military-political leadership of Artsakh held illegally by Azerbaijan, in case no action is taken both by the government of Armenia and the international community.
Therefore, we urge all human rights institutions and activists to mobilise their efforts and unite for the struggle for justice for Armenian hostages, pressuring Azerbaijan to release them immediately and unconditionally.
