Dear @StateDept
The people of Tigray are not asking for U.S. visas. For more than four years, they have been calling for the return of IDPs, the restoration of peace, and the right to return home.
Western Tigray is Tigray. If displaced Tigrayans are allowed to return to their homes in Western Tigray, including those who fled to Sudan and other areas, what reason would there be for another war in northern Ethiopia?
The real issue is not visas. The real issue is that thousands of Tigrayans remain displaced and unable to return to their land. Peace begins when people are allowed to go home.

My latest for @FP argues that the RSF fits the US definition of a terrorist group and designating them now would help speed the end of Sudan's devastating war by drawing the army back into talks and preventing the RSF from further dividing the country. https://t.co/JNmgWnUZRS
"As evidence of the UAE’s military support to Sudan’s abusive Rapid Support Forces mounts, the NBA will be prominently donning Emirates logos during the 2026 NBA finals," says @joey_shea . New @hrw on risks of Final series bolstering UAE "sportswashing" https://t.co/cExCHGQX9f
🚩As evidence of UAE military support to abusive RSF mounts, the NBA is prominently donning Emirates logos during the NBA finals
Instead of using basketball to whitewash UAE abuses, the NBA should speak out about UAE’s rights record, esp its role in Sudan https://t.co/yU3lMHEgJm

The NBA should use this high-profile opportunity to speak out about the country’s human rights record.

In violation of the Pretoria Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, the Ethiopian regime executed a drone strike in the Sheraro area of the Northwest Tigray Region this morning, resulting in fatalities and injuries among members of the Tigray Army during their routine activities. This breach is not an isolated incident; the regime has previously conducted drone strikes targeting civilians in various parts of Tigray. Justice and accountability for the genocide perpetrated by this regime and its allied forces against the Tigray people remain absent. Furthermore, the regime is reportedly preparing for another campaign aimed at exterminating the people of Tigray, having failed to subdue them through measures such as budget cuts, restrictions on fuel, medicines, food aid, and cash, alongside committing further atrocities. @SecRubio@StateDept@SenateForeign@SenatorShaheen@SenatorRisch@SenatorCardin@SenateGOP@SenateDems@BradSherman@antonioguterres
The Ethiopian government & its allies have committed and still are committing genocide in Tigray, war crimes, crimes against humanity, sexual violence, & starvation as a weapon are largely ignored by the world. Deaths in two years surpass Ukraine, Palestine, and Sudan combined.
.@SenatorShaheen also pointed out that @WhiteHouse has not provided the resources or sufficient diplomatic energy to facilitate the implementation #CoHA that calls the withdrawal of Eritrean & Amhara forces from #Tigray & the return of #IDPs from #WesternTigray to their homes.
News: #Orthodox_Patriarch urges #Ethiopia, #Saudi_Arabia to halt executions of Ethiopians on death row
The Patriarch described Ethiopians imprisoned in Saudi Arabia as “voiceless children” living “under the shadow of death,” and called for immediate diplomatic and humanitarian intervention.
Addressing the Ethiopian government directly, Abune Mathias said, “Since the purpose of diplomatic relations is to protect human life, we urge the Ethiopian government, with a sense of solemn trust, to give special attention to ongoing efforts. “We call for high-level discussions with Saudi authorities to ensure the death sentences of our unjustly condemned children are overturned and a path for their return home is facilitated.”

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia released a statement condemning in the strongest terms the attack targeting a site near Khartoum Airport, reaffirming its firm rejection of such acts.
As tensions rise and the risk of renewed war grows, women and girls in #Tigray are on the brink of another crisis.
Join Refugees International, @ECDCUS, @HarambeeOrg, and @giwps for a discussion on the current realities facing displaced women in Tigray.

Almost four years since a peace agreement signed between the Tigray People's Liberation Front and the Ethiopian government, hundreds of thousands of Tigrayans are still displaced and cannot return to their homes. https://t.co/SijvGGT6Ui
