This can sum up the terrible thinking that's still holding us back today.
The pain people went through becomes a sort of rite of passage.
We need to stop this.
Want better for your fellow humans.
"I suffered, therefore you must suffer, too" is such an odd mindset to carry through life.
I hear it all the time when people defend unpaid internships, awful entry-level jobs, student debt, etc.
Whatever happened to wanting the next generation to have it better than you did?

@WallStreetSilv I think you mean *tried to start wars.
Dropped MOAB on Afghaniston, launched 55 cruise missiles at Syria, threatened North Korea with nuclear war, allowed Saudis to keep bombing Yemen. ..
Remember that in the time since California started one high-speed rail line that will never be completed, China built this entire high-speed rail network from scratch:
Our own @nmcinroy with @TheanalysisN on the ‘practical radicalism’ of Community Wealth Building, what has been accomplished so far, and the potential for a “new common sense” movement beyond neoliberal capitalism. #CommunityWealthBuilding https://t.co/tdMCOwlNBg
@prageru the fact that people fantasize about this is one of the many problems with capitalism. People hope to win the lottery so they can escape and be free.
This is getting ridiculous.
OISST provides a real-time daily index of ocean surface temperature (60 S - 60 N). For the last month it has been continuously reading higher than in any previous year and still shows no sign of settling.
@MsTikq @Plumbumster @Zelkiiro@LibertyCappy you just believe capitalist state propaganda. It also seems you don’t have the ability to reason.
I’m literally trying to give you some facts about a movement that you clearly don’t understand. I used to hate socialism too but today, ignorance is a choice. Educate yourself.
@MsTikq @Plumbumster @Zelkiiro@LibertyCappy Fun fact: there are millions that starve or die from lack of basic needs in capitalist countries all over the world, every year.
If you actually talk to most socialists, you will find that they are in fact, NOT in favor of any authoritarian government.
@MsTikq @Plumbumster @Zelkiiro@LibertyCappy Actually, it’s no more authoritarian than capitalism if they both rely on state power.
What I’m saying is there is some nuance and likely facts you don’t know about when it comes to USSR.
Also, most socialists are not in favor of USSR. Is this hard to understand?
@MsTikq @Plumbumster @Zelkiiro@LibertyCappy You lack a lot of analysis required to truly understand everything going on.
Most socialist are angry at our current system. You could say the existence of homelessness and poverty in our system is capitalism’s failure …
@MsTikq @Plumbumster @Zelkiiro@LibertyCappy Fun fact: most socialists strongly disagree with Stalin. Not all agree with Marxist-Leninist beliefs. Many don’t even consider his actions to be socialist at all. It’s a big world out there. It’s like saying that Richard Nixon is a perfect representation of conservatism, forever.
@MsTikq @Plumbumster @MarvinMediocre@Zelkiiro@LibertyCappy It’s actually not authoritarian at all. Socialism is basically social ownership as the dominant mode of production in the economy. If you think that’s authoritarian, then logically, you must also think ownership by a small minority of Wall St capitalists is also authoritarian.
@MsTikq @Plumbumster @MarvinMediocre@Zelkiiro@LibertyCappy Wrong.
Socialism is no more inherently authoritarian than capitalism.
Though, Marxist-Leninists (communists) might differ on this. Not every socialist is for ML. I would even say most are not in favor of revolution.
Socialism is democracy applied to the economy.
