With the talk around "friends to lovers" reaching a fever pitch with the end result being neuroticism, I'm reminded just how much of a mind toxin current dating discourse is. I've never seen a topic so consistently able to get me into some of the lowest moods I can think of with zero way to prove/disprove it in practice vs on paper

The long and short of it is that the men and women with the best intentions and highest view of the opposite sex in terms of relationships are the ones who suffer the most in the current dating market. The whole thing is built around hookups and parasitism. Good women are either snatched up in an instant or chewed up and spit out by the wrong guy, and good men are either turned into societal outcasts or also chewed up and spit out by the wrong girl

All the more frustrating for someone like me who, to the shock of many people I know IRL, has never landed a date ever, even among longer friendships, and feels hopelessly resigned to remain lonely until Providence proves otherwise. It's debilitating but addicting
