Jews are NOT Israel
Jews are NOT a part of Israel
Jews DON’T belong to Israel
Jews are NOT represented by the State of Israel
Jews are NOT Zionist
Jews DON’T have their own state
Jews DON’T wage wars
Jews DON’T stand with the State of Israel
Standing with the Jewish people is NOT the same as standing with the State of Israel.
The reason I have been tormented for years, accused of the most absurd falsehoods -including being "a threat to the existence of the state of Israel", the U.S., and even "the global economy" (sic!)- is simple: and it’s all right here👇- Thank you @NimerSultany for the 🧵
Every empire dies the same way.
Not by invasion.
Not by revolution.
But by misreading its enemies and overestimating itself.
It begins with forgetting that the world sees what it does, not what it says.
That the bombed remember more vividly than the bomber.
That the tortured carry the truth longer than the torturer carries his medals.
Washington still believes it can lie to the world and be believed.
It calls theft sanctions.
Murder democracy.
Genocide self-defense.
It arms apartheid and sells it as stability.
It funds the burning of Gaza and calls it a peace process.
It buries children beneath rubble and demands a Nobel Prize for restraint.
And now, as the empire lashes out in decline, it crowns a narcissist to shout its delusions louder.
Trump believes diplomacy is a deal.
That threats are leverage.
That enemies break under pressure if you tweet hard enough.
He thinks Iran should surrender because he said so.
That Palestinians should disappear because it’s inconvenient to feel anything.
That history owes him applause just for showing up.
But reality does not negotiate with delusion.
Not in Tehran.
Not in Beijing.
Not in Moscow.
Not in Gaza.
Trump was not a break from the American empire.
He was its mirror.
Loud. Vulgar. Ahistorical.
Blind to consequence.
Obsessed with obedience.
He did not end the wars.
He monetized them.
He did not expose the deep state.
He gave it a new marketing team.
He did not make America great.
He made it unmistakably seen for what it is.
An empire that cannot see itself cannot see its end.
And Israel, the spoiled child of this dying order, mistakes indulgence for invincibility.
It thinks America’s protection is eternal.
That impunity is a divine right.
That deterrence is the same as legitimacy.
But it is not the world of 1948 anymore.
It is not even the world of 2008.
The myth of moral authority has collapsed under the weight of too many mass graves.
The Global South is not asking for permission anymore.
It is not begging for justice.
It is building something new.
And when the empire calls that chaos, what it really means is that its victims have stopped playing by its rules.
This is how all empires fall.
They hear warning as weakness.
They mistake silence for submission.
They assume the pain they inflict will never be returned.
Until it is.
And then they ask why the world turned its back.
But the world never turned.
It simply moved on.
Because every empire dies the same way.
By misreading its enemies.
And by believing the mirror instead of the map.
I cannot tell you how much it infuriates me to see this unelected billionaire knowingly smear arguably our most important social program -- Social Security keeps two-thirds of our elderly out of poverty, able to eat, pay their bills, etc -- to an audience of millions. Unchecked.
Long time followers here know that I don’t do politics, and there’s no political content on this account. I vote; and that’s it. The world does not need another social media nitwit telling people how to think and vote.
This post is not about politics, but about support for my friends that work for the National Weather Service, part of NOAA, a federal agency.
NWS meteorologists work long, hard hours serving the people of this country, not only during times of severe weather, but on the routine days as well.
Their surface and upper air observation networks along with computer models, radars, and satellites are critical for all meteorologists, including those of us in the private sector.
Most NWS field offices are currently understaffed right now. I can only imagine morale is not especially high.
Many high-level politicians follow this page, both Democrats and Republicans. I would encourage them and all of you to support my colleagues at the National Weather Service during this time. Their service is absolutely invaluable.
If NWS products and services are reduced, we all suffer…especially during times of life-threatening weather.
