Scientist interested in how & why people fall over. I research the neural control of action (esp. gait & balance) in neurological disease. Post-doc @UCLIoN
Delighted to have contributed to a chapter on Voluntary steps and gait initiation. It summarises the Throw and Catch model of human stepping and provides new evidence with data from my PhD thesis https://t.co/CUiXjouLmZ
Bancroft et al. report head movements away from neutral increase intracranial pressure and pulsatility, effects varying by posture and shunt status. This may guide smart shunt design and symptom management. Read at https://t.co/TDIwCBz39w @battmancroft@EleanorMoncur@AhmedToma13

My colleagues Emma Harding, @KeirYong & @mindmodels have created this free resource - it contains dozens of practical tips & strategies that people with #PosteriorCorticalAtrophy have told us that they find useful in daily life: https://t.co/hFcQLFVZ1R

New paper from me and @QSNeurosurgery colleagues out in @BrainSpineJ
Ambulatory intracranial pressure in humans: ICP increases during movement between body positions.
https://t.co/1oDBttz4HA
A greater increase in ICP during movement might be a marker of disturbed ICP regulation. The increase in ICP during movement might cause brief CSF 'over-drainage' in shunted individuals. Our findings may inform the design of the long-awaited ‘smart shunt’.
