I am learning more about speech conditions everyday 🗣️ The brain 🧠 is very complex. Apraxia,Verbal Dyspraxia, Aphasia, Ataxia, Dysarthria, all effect the speech & can be brought on unexplainably as in my case, or from birth, or trauma from a stroke. This film is worth a watch & is streaming from this Friday.
Today is European Day of Speech and Language Therapy 💬
We want to thank our skilled therapists who are caring for patients with eating, drinking, swallowing difficulties as well as speech, language and communication problems 💙

Former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow is to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story using ground-breaking technology, the first time a bedtime story has been read this way.

Started as a fixed term contract and now we are here (aka 2 years later with the best MDT/friends). Thanks for everything team Maple 🍁 even brought me cat hiking socks for my travels - they know me so well😻 Have learnt so much and loved peads ABI. 💓 until next time TCT 👋🏻
Delighted that @Childrens_Trust have officially received their Communication Access UK accredition and can now proudly display the symbol to show their ongoing commitment to be an inclusive organisation - a huge team effort from all! 👏🥳⭐
Thank you @RCSLT for supporting us!
Please take a minute to answer & share
📣Do you use/need your RCSLT plastic card (the one that is replaced yearly)?
I’m passionate about the environment & sending a new card each year seems incredibly wasteful, I want to see if there’s a more sustainable way to do this 👇🏽
This is shocking! Why don’t @gmb@DrHilaryJones say that Speech and Language Therapy is the main treatment for #aphasia - not music!
Please correct while you are on air.
#SLPeeps please RT
Can’t thank @slcnstories enough for donating these amazing books. They will help our CYP with #ABI explore and understand acquired communication difficulties. I’ve already used Eddie the Elephant to explore feelings around #AAC with my amazing play colleague Rachel 🥰🥰🥰
What #mySLTday has looked like for the last few weeks! Completed my goal of supporting communication #participation in the pool with my physio colleagues ✨🏊♀️ and went horse riding. Horse went for a chew of the device…”the horse ate my AAC” would have been a new one😂
This was organised by CYP in a SLT/school project group to support #participation. One CYP is an #AAC user; contributing their ideas in a group was a very important skill to practice! So thankful we get opportunities like this to work together; team Maple are #MDT goals 🥇
Young people at The Children's Trust organised a brilliant indoor football match yesterday! The children all enjoyed some sporting fun (and a bit of healthy rivalry!) but the match also helped them communicate in a group setting while working on their rehabilitation goals.
Fantastic lunchtime trip to McDonalds with the older Maple CYP. Great practice for recalling learnt information (our orders!), voice work on volume & pace and confidence building in new environments. As well as @beccyslt and her young person using their AAC to order!
