@OgrenAnnie For sure! The studies of how it affects us are relatively new and we still haven't full learned all the ways it affects us. I think that moderation in almost every case is good and certainly it would be for this scenario. I agree that many emails can be stressful as well.
Ch12. Technology has completely changed the workplace and how we communicate. Today's workers are truly one of the first to experience the integration of tech to this extent. The article discusses the effects that it has had on work culture. (1/2) https://t.co/SNoZyGMl7n #COMM10A
@storyteller_LG You bring up some good points. I think that the lines between work and our lives outside of it have been blurred far more than before the tech advancement. While it has been easier to communicate, it may be difficult to get away from work with how tech can blur the lines.
@AveryMendillo I think you bring up a good point. I think that with the covid pandemic, it would be difficult to imagine what the workplace would look like without tech. I also think that because of the tech advancement there has been less face-to-face communication in the workplace.
@OrgCommChat I would want to learn more about how leaders can be optimistic in difficult times. I want to learn this because people are counting on them to find success and it is seemingly difficult to make decisions that take great risks for their potential loss or benefit.
@OrgCommChat A strength I have for managing differences in the workplace is that I can listen and be there for others if they need it. While I may not be able to relate to some issues people have, I can try to be understanding of their situations.
@dylarnette@OrgCommChat Good example! I think there are leadership changes that Toys R Us could have made to survive. I think that the right leadership can help about any company succeed. However, the world changed with Amazon, and Toys R Us got left behind without the same competitive advantages.
@CooperBates13 Good example! The leadership qualities of Bill Gates are an example of transformational leadership because they have such a significant impact on an organization and those involved in it. Transformational leaders have a special ability to bring a group together for success.
@OrgCommChat I think a key aspect of my personal brand would be kindness. Growing up, I was told by others that I was kind. I don't necessarily think of that aspect of myself, but that's something that others see me as. I also try to improve and find other ways I can be kind.
@RayThom11149994 Good example. I think that companies shouldn't be held ethically responsible in that case. However, I don't think that companies should be punished because they don't publicly make these changes. It seems like sometimes these public changes are focused on marketing too much.
@BriGonzalez23@OrgCommChat I like your example. DEI is important in shaping a company's culture because it provides fairness to everyone in an organization. It helps shape something that people want to be a part of. In this case, it makes the trail blazers org a place people want to work.
@OrgCommChat hire men for those jobs. I think one of the reasons it's balanced is men and women have different perspectives on marketing in the things that are marketed to them.
@OrgCommChat I'm interested in working in marketing in the future- Market Research Analysts and Specialists, 41.4% are men. I don't see anything gendered about it. It may be more attractive to women because it may not have many executive positions because some organizations may choose to...
@AnnaOBr09449307@OrgCommChat Good example! I have not seen a situation where the glass ceiling appears. I think the glass ceiling still happens today but less frequently than before. Organizations could benefit from having a proven inclusive environment and being able to hire more workers by breaking it.
@CamiloA44300836 Good example! As a manager, I would help my employees feel like they belong in our organization. In a sense, I would want my employees to feel like, in an organization, that we are a team. For inclusiveness, an environment where employees can discuss their problems would help.
@OrgCommChat That is one of my favorites as well! I think another one of my favorite movies is Star Wars: Episode IV. What's so interesting about it to me is how it looks compared to other movies made in the 70s.
@JackBre61456863 they know that although changes are being made, that I am doing what I can to help them. I would not want to become too friendly with them prior to change because then I may lose their trust and cause the situation to become worse.
@JackBre61456863 I think you bring up a good question. As a manager, I would become somewhat friendly with my employees prior to changes. I would also try to do something nice for them that provides them some sort of benefit. This way...
@BriGonzalez23 it could seem controlling, but from my experience leaders have been more conscious about those they have power over. I found that legitimate power may be the most influential because it has the ability to cause those it has power over to feel responsibility for action.
@BriGonzalez23 I liked your example. Of the organizations I have been a part of, power has shown up within them in situations of leadership. When a leader decides to make decisions for the organization, he/she would use their power to influence or take action. In some scenarios...
