Everyday I’m grateful to be in the US where we are largely shielded (mostly by lucky geography) from the threat of regional conflicts. I have several friends and colleagues in Israel. I’ve had zoom calls where people have had to drop off one by one because of sirens. I’ve talked with them about whether its worth it to wake their young children in the middle of the night to go downstairs to a shelter. War is hell and I’m very sad for them and their loved ones; I hope they are safe. 

Many of these friends are building crypto tech, some of the best in the world. I won’t speak for them, but I can share my personal view about security and liberty generally.

We are often told that there is a trade off. This comes, somewhat dubiously, from the Ben Franklin quote "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Franklin wasn’t directly addressing a tradeoff between personal privacy (let alone technology) vs government control and surveillance (as we in the 21st century tend to read him). He was speaking more specifically about colonists who wanted to compromise with the King to obtain a respite from the then escalating conflict with Britain. As such the trade-off Franklin was imagining was less about individual privacy vs national security and more about giving up local sovereignty and self-government to a larger, exploitative sovereign in exchange for a little less bullying from that sovereign. In a way, the quote is more about the notion of decentralization than it is about secret-keeping and privacy.

Either way, I do not think there is a tradeoff between liberty and security. I believe that the enemies of peaceful and civilized life are most harmed by tools that empower individuals, families, and local communities to come together and make their own moral choices. Terrorists and totalitarians rely on fear and control. Peacemakers and community-builders rely on persuasion, legitimacy, and the creation of mutual self-interest through trade and equitable wealth-creation. 

Crypto will be misused by terrible people, but its ability to empower individuals will, in the long arc of history, bend towards peace.

The setup is so good, because of tight invalidation. Weekly paints HL for the last 3 weeks, and false breakouts, so fat, did not have any follow through. If we lose 30k, we can pack it up and wait another year, but if the invalidation is literally 1% below, have to take it.

The current consolidation looks eerie similar to the one we had after the 1st of April weekly breakout back in 2019. On lower time frames like 4h, daily (screenshot), 3D and W it shapes up as a very nice fractal.

@deltaxbt 2/2 sauces based on mayonaise (which is 87% pufa fats) and extra sugar added to soda. I actually made a SuperSizeMe-like experiment and I was eating solely McRoyals (1/4Pounder in the US??) which use only ketchup and mustard, coke zero and ice-cream for 4 weeks and lost weight.

@deltaxbt Actually, McDonald’s beef is great quality and it is prepared on grill without any oil and only seasoned with salt and pepper (I was actually working there 20 years ago as a student). Most of the unhealthy effects come from polyunsaturated fats (vege oils that are used to fry)1/2
