#AbiyAhmedAli, the narcissist autocrat, comes out, day in and out with his pet projects while waging war with tens of millions suffering in Amhara, Oromia, and other regions of #Ethiopia. Stalin, Hitler, and many others in the 20th and 21st centuries did wonders by building great infrastructure and monumental halls of the arts and culture. Yet, erected on the misery, agony, blood, and tears of millions of their victims.
Even in Addis Ababa, the very site of his tragic-comic dramas that evoke Orwellian double speak, peace is war and war is peace, residents do not have access to safe drinking water, access to electricity, food security, and are denied even basic rights and sense of security denied to them in their city. The priority of the so-called PP is lopsided. As the priority is what the autocrats dream and demand to be erected, no serious and Mulli-level, all-inclusive of the needs and aspirations of the citizens in the city and country, a just (both procedural and deliberative), people-centered and inclusive development approaches, strategic plans for development based on the real and priority needs of the people.
No, no! The whims and wishes of the 7th King dominate--as if they are duly studied and -considered, well-vetted, and designed--govern the initiation, planning, and execution of these projects. Not even including the obvious case of the 15 billion USD palace where Abiy Ahmed himself told the mute and timid HOR, televised and on record, that they cannot question him about such matters as they did not give him the budget. Nevertheless, most of these projects have no transparency, no publicly disclosed project cost-benefit analysis, no project social environmental and economic sustainability, and no resilience studies as these are now the requirements for infrastructure in our era of climate change risks. No accountability on the source and disbursement of the funds, and no competitive bidding process. Glitter, show business, and bazaar day in and out while the country is on fire in a wide swath of the breadth and depth of Ethiopia.
Meanwhile, they want to bamboozle the Ethiopian public and the diplomatic community in Addis with their cheap propaganda day in and out while thirty million Ethiopians are food insecure, over six million IDPs, and over nine million one-third of students are out of school, etc., etc. The plethora of woes and perils because of the “Potemkin party” PP’s misgovernance, blunders, and missteps stemming in the main from #AbiyAhmedAli , mindset of the 7th King delusions and hallucianitons drones on and on.

A report released yesterday by the government appointed Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRCO) has revealed a widespread use of drones in various parts of the country in recent months.

And yet,

- One in three children in Ethiopia are out of school

- Tens of thousands of teachers in Southern Ethiopia are complaining they've not received their salary for over a year

- Public universities are warning their budget for one student currently is a mere 22 Birr (0.40 U.S cent) per day and they're unable to feed them anymore

- Ethiopia's income from foreign trade has declined 30 percent... etc

This begs the question 'What's really happening?' 

But still war mongering and bravado rule the day, and observers warn the country could further torn apart if these cycles of violence and conflicts don't end... and end soon!

Mass military conscription is underway in Ethiopia, not to defend the country from invaders, but to pave the way for brothers and sisters to kill one another.

Here we are, in the third year, back to square one! And all this is happening on the eve of the kickstart of a national dialogue.

The Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) urgently appeals for assistance, alerting the global community to severe violence and coercion perpetrated by the Ethiopian government. The situation has escalated dangerously. As outlined in the accompanying report:

Mr. Tesfaye Tadese, a member of EHRCO's Law and Management Standing Committee and editor of its magazine, was gruesomely killed by government security forces at his residence in Addis Ababa's Gerji area. EHRCO reveals that those responsible have not been held accountable, and crucial case documents are missing.

Mr. Asefa Maru, an EHRCO Executive Committee member, was shot multiple times by a federal officer while inside a police vehicle just one kilometer from his home.

Furthermore, EHRCO members, whose identities remain confidential to shield them from government reprisals, have suffered beatings, imprisonment, and threats in 21 separate incidents while carrying out their duties at EHRCO offices or related gatherings.

In response, EHRCO issues the following urgent appeal:

For over three decades, EHRCO has been steadfast in its commitment to upholding human rights, making significant strides in Ethiopia's human rights landscape. In light of the current wave of threats, unlawful detentions, assaults, extreme pressure, intimidation, and harassment from federal and regional authorities, municipal administrations, and other governmental entities, EHRCO urgently demands:

An immediate cessation of killings, unlawful arrests, assaults, pressure tactics, intimidation, systematic impediments to work, office intrusions, defamation, and all forms of harassment. Recognition of the perilous environment for human rights defenders and the imperative for protection of these defenders.

Swift action from international, continental, and national human rights bodies and stakeholders to halt these attacks and ensure accountability.

Solidarity and support from the international community for EHRCO, providing urgent assistance and safeguarding.

Immediate intervention from national, continental, and international human rights entities and other stakeholders to curb the onslaught against EHRCO and contribute to enhancing Ethiopia's human rights situation.
