We are thrilled to welcome the 2021 class @OslerResidency. Our white coat ceremony, emerging from COVID, reminds me the meaning of being together. Even more, reminds me of the sheer awe for current residents/chiefs, here & across the country, for carrying us to this beautiful day
Couldn’t agree more with this piece by @CarlosdelRio7@HIVpxresearch Mitch Warren- amplified by @drmt
The time is now to appoint a Global AIDS Coordinator for @PEPFAR
We cannot afford to lose anymore time.

By telling her story, Natoma Canfield helped us pass the Affordable Care Act. She was an inspiration to me and so many others, which is why her letter still hangs in my office. Michelle and I send our condolences to Natoma’s family. https://t.co/QwII5NNM4P
📽️ @PAHouseGOP leader has meltdown on House floor after it was raised that his caucus is 100% white in a chamber that is 70% male while pushing bills that hurt women's health, especially Black and brown women.
He had it stricken from the record then they shut down the floor.
The United States is donating half a billion Pfizer vaccines to low-income countries around the world.
This is the largest-ever purchase and donation of vaccines by a single country, and our efforts to save lives won't stop here.

LGBTQ+ rights are human rights. As we celebrate this month, we won’t rest until full equality for LGBTQ+ Americans is finally achieved and codified into law. The Senate must pass the Equality Act.

I've been seeing a patient living with #HIV who has had right hip pain for 5 months.
He is a 33 year old Black man who hobbles around like he's 90.
He just lost his job.
The pain was so great he couldn't sleep at night and was dozing off during his shift.
AIDS is not over. An AIDS death every minute is an emergency! HIV rates are not following the trajectory that we together promised. Indeed, amidst the fall-out from the Covid crisis, we could even see a resurgent pandemic.

As the #HLM2021AIDS kicks off today in New York, I share some reflections in @CFR_org's @ThinkGlobalHlth about how our 40 year fight to #EndAIDS can help us against #COVID & vice versa. We do not have the luxury of choosing between them.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 1st reported cases of #AIDS.
I remember the first person I saw succumb to the disease. I want to honor her. It was October 2006. She’d had symptoms for years. We’d just started testing people for HIV in a town in Liberia’s rainforest. 1/x
Thank you @khmayer1 for this poignant piece on the 40th anniversary of the first report of our other ongoing pandemic- #HIV
Ken’s personal account of that time 40 years ago is so deeply moving- and such an important reminder, as he says, we are all in this together.
June 5, 2021
Today marks 40 years since the first official reporting in @CDCMMWR of what later became known as HIV.
On this day, we reflect on the many lives we have lost to #HIV and recommit to ending the HIV epidemic.

On the 40th year of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, we remember the lives cut short by this terrible disease and celebrate the resilience and dignity of those living with HIV. Let’s continue to eradicate the stigma faced by too many – and work to end this epidemic once and for all.
It’s impossible to reflect on #40yearsofHIV without noting that the history of this disease is one of constant struggle against stigma, hate, and discrimination.
A thread on why justice has always been - and remains - central to the shared fight to #EndAIDS (1/x)
More than 1.4 billion doses of #COVID19Vaccines have been administered globally. Behind this impressive number is a staggering and growing gap: 1 in 4 people in high-income countries have been vaccinated, compared w/ 1 in 500+ in low-income ones. (1/2)

I am committed to upgrading the public health system so the nation is ready for whatever may come next. We are releasing $7.4 billion in funding to hire, train, and support public health workers across the country, reflective of the diversity within the communities they serve.
