Benjamin Donnachie

Sussex Beekeeper (unlike Sherlock, not retired) near Haywards Heath. Going treatment free with no chemicals in my hives.

@BeebytesCIC @NetworkRailEDB @NetworkRailSCOT @ScotRail @LNER @AvantiWestCoast @TPExpressTrains @CrossCountryUK @LumoTravel @Scotbeekeepers Awesome. If I had the time I’d get the @CalSleeper up and help! 🐝

Alas Twitter, it’s time for another break…

I’ve enjoyed reading about beekeeping techniques, learning new facts about the universe and watching funny dog videos but… time to get stuff done!

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

Back from a break to concentrate on other things….

I finally took the plunge and made a frame jig! It’s not pretty but it works! Making frames in batches of ten should make the winter jobs less of a chore! 😁

Totally my management strategy this winter - I hope to start the 2022 season with strong hardy bees that are adapted to their local environment.

@farmerdanb Forecast to be down to -3C next week… weather has gone crazy!

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

@arek52977565 @honeypricebook Te ule to mojego teścia (Ja hoduję pszczoły w Anglii) i pszczoły wydają się szczęśliwe, ale zobaczymy wiosną!

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

It’s been -15C over the last couple of days and the insulation on the Greater Poland hives from the summer is working hard!

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

@arek52977565 @honeypricebook Tak, w Zalesie Królewskie!

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

@BlackDogHoney @honey I thought I didn’t like honey until I tried it straight from the hive. Turns out I don’t like the blended stuff from supermarkets but pure honey is just incredible!

Good article from the Guardian about cheap honey imports.

@farmerdanb Congrats Dan! 😁

@FalconHeatingDW Try reversing the order - strong alcohol the night before and then strong coffee the morning after.

@StravaSupport “Activity with no data discarded” 😱 I guess that means GPS problems with my watch?

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

@dogfituk Any tips for full 💩 bags? Doesn’t feel right running with them in my pocket! 🤢

[Benjamin Donnachie @bensbeesuk]

@SheffieldHoney Me too! Does this count as a near miss? 😱
