A M6.7 earthquake occurred off the coast of Nicaragua today. Here, the Cocos Plate is subducting below the Caribbean Plate at ~7 cm/yr.
Earthquakes are common at this plate boundary - today's event occurred just E of the 1992 M7.6, which triggered a deadly tsunami. ๐งต1/
