Informal institutions, like local networks and informal bargaining, play a crucial role in governance in lower income countries. But how do these informal institutions shape tax compliance? My job market paper explores this question. #EconJMP#EconTwitter
🚨Job Market Paper🚨
❓ Populations are aging rapidly, with critical implications for long-term care (LTC) systems. But how does the provision of LTC impact families?
📣I answer this question in my #JMP.

🚨📢I am on the academic job market this year!
In my JMP, I study empirically and in theory how labor market shocks to the working-age population spill over to older households via the housing market.

Post-docs interested in #gender#economics: great opportunity! If you want to work @Unibocconi@AxaGenderLab - a unique vibrant research place on gender in Europe- you have few days to express your interest for a Marie Curie: https://t.co/eQtsm8gyfl
Very honored to receive the Birgit Grodal Award. Thank you @EEANews and thanks to all my co-authors — without them this achievement would’ve not been possible!
The University of Mannheim is looking to fill two temporary positions in Macroeconomics starting in Fall 2024: a visiting position for one year and a 3-year position. W3 salary level, some publications required. If interested, email me.
Very excited this great JMP by my colleague @c_zimpelmann is finally out!
We've always *known* gender norms matter for female labour supply, but now we have actual *evidence* at the individual level!
Come for new stylised facts, stay for deep policy implications 👇
My friend and co-author @david__koll is on the market. Everyone seeking to hire in Macro/Public/Family/Labor Economics should take a close look at him. See Dominik’s thread below.
How should childcare subsidies vary with family income? In a new paper together with @david__koll, Fabian Stürmer-Heiber and Hélène Turon we study this question in the German context with a dynamic structural model. 1/19
I am excited to announce that @david_koll is on the job market! He is an excellent macroeconomist with a broad set of skills (modelling, computational and empirical skills). He works on policy relevant question in labor/family/public economics. https://t.co/GwPavZa8nm
We have several excellent students on the market this year, covering a range of areas including macro, development and family economics (and more). Take a look!
If you are hiring in macro/labor/family, take a look at David Koll (Mannheim postdoc, EUI PhD). His job market paper is a a very innovative model of biased divorce expectations and the implications for specialization in marriage and welfare. He is fantastic!
If you are hiring in development, take a look at Laura Montenbruck. She conducted an interesting field experiment in Sierra Leone nudging people into property tax compliance by telling them about local public goods. She is also a coauthor on my JEEA paper on women's rights.
@zeng_simeng considers two mechanisms affecting gains from trade in her JMP. She constructs a Melitz model with firm-level innovation and firm-specific distortions, concluding that the innovation channel exacerbates the welfare losses from trade caused by resource misallocation.
If you are hiring in macro, take a look at Lukas Mahler. His job market paper is a superb quantitative analysis of education tracking and its impact on inequality and inter-generational persistence. He has another paper with @MinchulYum on the connection between health & wealth.
