Exposing Systemic Misconduct and Misinformation in UN's Handling of #Tigray Crisis in #Ethiopia:
In a recent session of the European Union, Member of Parliament @galleerie disclosed that a representative from @OCHA_Ethiopia remarked dismissively about the Tigray conflict, stating, "So, you want to know about Tigray? First, we can talk about Tigray, and then we can discuss the real problems... it is because they [Tigray] are the loudest." This comment reveals a troubling disregard for the gravity of the situation in Tigray. Over the past four years, several UN diplomats in Ethiopia have engaged in serious misconduct. Senior UN officials have been engaged in tampering reports, imposing restrictions, censoring their staff under threat of retribution, and generally misrepresenting the crisis in the region.
Furthermore, the head of @IOMEthiopia has made derogatory comments, calling a group "dirty and vicious," and expressed reluctance to revisit Tigray. She also insinuated that a proposal to resettle Tigrayans in Rwanda was designed to foster guerrilla warfare with the backing of Paul Kagame, as detailed in a report by Tghat, available [here](https://t.co/vkil7tgr0G).
During the conflict, entities such as UN Ethiopia deviated from their mandate of neutrality and independence, echoing government propaganda in cooperation with @fanatelevision and using terms like "Northern Ethiopia" and "law enforcement operation." Such alignment with government rhetoric was documented in this [video](https://t.co/t53hHbH9Dm).
Shockingly, the UNDP has labeled Tigray as a "cancer," a sentiment that resonates with the Ethiopian government's stance, as reported by Foreign Policy [here](https://t.co/jdm0D3zpJo).
Even following the Pretoria ceasefire agreement, misleading narratives persist. Recently, the chief of UNOCHA in Ethiopia incorrectly claimed that Tigray is faring better than other Ethiopian regions, contradicting himself by later refusing to make comparisons, according to [The Reporter Ethiopia](https://t.co/hr45J2DvKi).
While it is essential to acknowledge the struggles in other regions of Ethiopia like Amhara, Afar, Oromia, and Somali, where millions desperately require humanitarian assistance, the misinformation and irresponsible commentary from @OCHA_Ethiopia about Tigray represent a blatant breach of the "do no harm" principle. Such actions not only endanger vulnerable populations but also undermine the integrity and objectives of the United Nations.
Tigray is facing possibly the worst desert locust invasion in recent memory. The Tigray Interim Administration calls on the people of Tigray, friends, the federal government & the international community to do all they can to help us rise up to a challenge of colossal proportions.
The Eritrean army is demolishing houses in the Tigrayan town of Zalambessa. The Eritrean and Amhara forces were supposed to withdraw from Tigray according to the Pretoria CoHa, but they remain & continue to systematically commit atrocities destruction.

Authorities & forces unlawfully rounded up Tigrayans in Western Tigray holding them in dire conditions. Many were detained for over a year. Detainees described killings, torture, and enforced disappearances before eventual forcible expulsion. New @hrw https://t.co/0hSyO31cYn

3rd May - #Tigrayan Civilians Were The Target of a 'Relentless Ethnic Cleansing Campaign'
@TouzeSebastien: ❝Since November 2020, the authorities and the #Amhara security forces have been waging a merciless campaign of what you might call ethnic cleansing to try and drive out the #Tigray people out of Western Tigray. They're doing this with the consent and the potential participation of the #Ethiopian Federal forces, to do this they resort to threats, to unlawful homicides, sexual violence, the use arbitrary detentions on a massive scale, as well as pillaging, force transfers and deprivation of Humanitarian Aid.❞

#Ethiopia & #Eritrea are guilty of #TigrayGenocide
It was a pleasure to welcome to my office and hold productive discussions with @MikeHammerUSA and Ambassador Tracy Ann Jacobson of @USEmbassyAddis this afternoon. We did raise and reached understanding on a number of issues including the progress on the #thePretoria accords,
A woman without a home, a husband, kids & without her sight: all because of a senseless violence no fault of hers. The whole world, myself included, call her an IDP, an acronym that conveniently hides the multiple sufferings she has & continues to endure. This must stop & soon!
