@NickGallantin@chamath Ukraine was invaded. They have an interest in maintaining the entirety of their homeland. You might debate how much you want to pay for that, but to pretend not to see it is playing dumb
@HPbasketball I’m not sure the analogy holds that cleanly. Any good sales reps looking for a new gig points to their results and how they outperformed colleagues. And businesses have presidents awards precisely to recognize the stars within the sales team. Internal compares are scrutinized
@TheTruthSearUm@NBCNews Respectfully, that might be because certain folks - not saying you specifically - insist on that being the focal point, as opposed to the tragedy of a child dying and the pathetically overdue need to address gun access in America IMHO
@tylerldurden@WSJ In truth, it sounds like you’re advocating for die not adapt. Surely you can’t resign yourself to existential risk simply because others might not take it as seriously. I’m not trying to pick a fight, I truly just don’t get it - we have one fucking planet. Why risk it?
@tylerldurden@WSJ Respectfully, how do you get comfortable dismissing climate change risk? I’m old enough to have visibly observed the climate degradation in the USA.
I do understand a desire to scale back regulation and lower prices in the grocery store, but climate is an existential risk
@Nadal_istheGOAT@historyinmemes Gotta land in a hurry on an aircraft carrier before you end up in the sea. Hence the Navy slam down vs the Air Force gentle descent
@iamscrilla@paulpierce34 This was his actual challenge in GSW. He could score, but he put zero effort into D. It sometimes even seemed like he put effort into not playing D. Can’t have that.
@RickeyeBeerGuy @paulpierce34@warriorsworld He was solid offensively, though scouting reports did make life harder in playoffs. But his real issue was apathetic defense. Sometimes it almost seemed like he was trying hard to not try on D for GSW. Has that improved now that he’s a wizard?
@BonnieGH420 @dj4aces@MattBinder Again, fully aware he didn’t found.…but that doesn’t mean Tesla ends up where it is without him. Do you think if either of us were blessed to be at helm of Tesla in early days, we’d drive to similarly successful ends? I like to think I’m talented, but have flaws and less driven
@savannarbananar@dj4aces@MattBinder So? I love Larry David, but I find it ridiculous to think he’ll have more of enduring impact on the arc of humanity. And just because a lot of us don’t like Musk and think he exaggerates his personal accomplishments, that’s a far cry from saying he just lucked in, did little, etc
@dj4aces@MattBinder I can understand - and sympathize with - the view that Elon is a dick, but suggesting he hasn’t contributed massively to the world utterly astounds me. Absent Elon, we would never have heard of Tesla nor SpaceX
@AP_Europe@AP@johnleicester Tricky predicament. On the one hand, so damn tough to raise retirement age, esp on those near that age. On the other hand, tough to sustain growth and social safety net when average folks put in well below 40 hours / week. There’s a reason many INTL corps avoid hiring in France
@WSJ Sad state of affairs that she can get caught clearing presenting falsehoods, disciplined, but then go on immediately tweeting thereafter ‘I WOULD NEVER LIE.’
@scottshtragedy @KevinMKruse@laurenboebert I’m a big fan of his, but I’m not that big a fan of this race to the bottom tbh. Maybe I just need to drop Twitter for a bit - but I miss insightful folks sticking to substance over well worn dunks. I just dont see how the latter stops the political spiral
@snikles313 @MJ_Palpatine @KevinMKruse@elonmusk@anothercohen Kevin used the word lazy. How do you distinguish work from “actual work”? I worry a lot of ppl on this thread think no CEOs work but every rank and file employee kills themselves. That’s hardly true categorically, tho nor is the reverse.
@1FJB11 @MJ_Palpatine @KevinMKruse@elonmusk@anothercohen Huh? What do you think I’ve bought into re media? I try to bring healthy skepticism all around, but not perfect
