Mentoring young smart scientists is truly a privilege. Gabriella Antonellis from @mtholyoke started her PhD at @harvardmed this year. Very impressed by her intelligence and toughness during her time at the LFPM and @DrTonyLetai lab. Can’t wait to see what she does next!

Looking forward to this #SFPM talk by @SanfordSimon . Sandy and team and @fibroregistry have done outstanding work characterizing FLHCC and are using functional approaches to identify therapies. Great example of bedside to bench and then back to bedside research.
Join us next week, Sept 13th @ 11:30 EDT for our SFPM Virtual Monthly Seminar featuring
@SanfordMSimon
as he discusses "Functional Precision Medicine for Effective Therapeutics for Cancer: Lessons from Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma"

➡️Join us at the next BCDI meeting on Monday Sept 11th at 3PM on the Harvard Med Quad (Goldenson 122) for exciting discussions led by @TheLeeLab on cell death in response to transcription blockade and @OylerYanivLab on cell death in infections. More info: https://t.co/uOJiL13B18
School closures across Germany at the onset of the #COVID19 pandemic may help explain a concurrent surge in mental health problems for adolescents, finds a new @ScienceAdvances study. https://t.co/DCUDjDUgOg
Last night at Gillette, Bruce Springsteen gave a shoutout to @danafarber & Dr. Paul Richardson before singing his hit song, Thunder Road. Thank you, @springsteen!
Why do some cells survive or die in response to chemo? One reason: #tumorheterogeneity of apoptotic priming. Now out in @ScienceAdvances, our new tech to identify features of #singlecells that are highly or poorly primed for apoptosis (https://t.co/yzniGTU7JY) (1/7)
@sorger_peter@JiaRenLin In some (though not all) #coloncancer PDX models, we found that poorly primed subpopulations (SP) expressed high levels of targetable proteins including Mcl-1 or Her2. This could lead to personalized strategies for drug combinations – though this strategy needs validation (6/7)
It's pretty impressive that vaccines directed to the ancestral strain spike from 2 years ago, w/ the virus that's evolved thru >290 million confirmed cases, and now to the hyper-mutated Omicron, have preserved efficacy of near 90% vs severe disease with a 3rd shot
