I feel like some soccer fans of other countries are missing a lot of context in their annoyance with American confidence about the World Cup.
The vast majority of us don’t actually think we’re gonna win the whole thing. Even those of us who know very little about soccer know enough to understand our small chances.
But that doesn’t matter. You’re talking about a nation built on a steady diet of believing anything’s possible.
We don’t care about odds. We care about winning. And in service to that mindset, we are more than happy to buy into a suspension of logic and rational thinking.
The thought of being in a competition and not believing we can win it, even in defiance of odds, is incomprehensible to us.
But moreover, what do we lose in believing we can win in a sport that has a mere of fraction of our emotional investment in other sports?
Not a damn thing. We’ve already exceeded our own expectations, so why not push for more?
We were told we'd be shot by ICE, we never saw them
We were told the police would be tough, they partied with us
We were told the Americans didn't want us, they embraced us like family
Stop listening to the 'media' trying to divide us! live your lives and make memories! 🧡
Idk guys. Every time I see scenes like this at Arrowhead, I’m reminded how badly we need a giant beige dome with all the personality of an airport terminal.
@MichelleTater Used them yesterday and got the best prices and incredibly easy process. FIFA site and process is ridiculously complicated and convoluted. I love stubhub.
@motzemog@PlayFor90 💯 had a different experience. I had shittle passes for the matches I am attending. I instantly bought parking. I’d rather sit in my car than deal with standing and waiting for hours. It took us three hours to go 1.5 miles to the stadium. And if you’re disabled-you’re screwed.
@DennisSweedq@PlayFor90 We literally handle it for every Chiefs game, concert, every other soccer match I’ve attended at arrowhead. You clearly know nothing. 🙄🙄🙄
@dbeebestl@PlayFor90 That side is closed off. You can only park in the north side lots. And they closed most of the entrances there. Not really sure why these greedy idiots are trying to reinvent the wheel. I leave my house sometimes 30 min prior to cheifs kickoff and I’m never late
@downthebyline Could be. They weren’t checking “tickets” at all and we arrived three hors prior to kickoff. Had 1.5 miles to go and missed kickoff. What a 💩 show
@ExtraBeissHit We missed it. Waited 3 hours to go 1.5 miles. I’m disabled and can’t walk that. And they had no accommodations for handicapped. They didn’t even park us in a handicapped spot. Will see how Saturday is. I paid $125 for ada parking. I’d rather sit in my car for hours
@BryBryStrick How many World Cup events have you attended? Because this was @FIFAWorldCup fuck up. I have season tickets and arrowhead. More people 1/4 of the standing and waiting time. Prolly shouldn’t be critical of things you clearly aren’t knowledgeable about.
@FWC26KansasCity We can see the buses just sitting and then they all come at once. What the hell was that? They should have been continually running with designated bus lanes. Then we finally get in a bus and the driver takes us PAST our stop. This was beyond a mess. And horrific for disabled.
@FWC26KansasCity Someone who was “actually in a wheelchair”. At least he was sitting! When we finally get to lot L, there is ZERO accommodation or sitting area for the HUGE line of people and when I asked any staff of volunteer, they didn’t give a crap and didn’t know anything.
