Concern for public safety in Kailash Hills, East of Kailash.
Construction work by builders is going on without proper safety measures, putting residents and pedestrians at serious risk.

On 23rd May, a senior citizen was badly injured after an iron rod fell on his skull and was rushed to hospital unconscious. Builders/owners reportedly fled from the spot.

Thanks to Delhi Police for prompt response and registration of FIR, but the bigger concern is how such dangerous construction activities are continuing unchecked in residential areas.

Illegal dumping of construction debris, open sewer leakage, broken pavements, unsafe barricading, dust pollution, traffic obstruction, and lack of civic monitoring are creating daily hazards for residents, school children, senior citizens, and commuters in the area. Immediate intervention by MCD, Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Police, and concerned authorities is necessary to ensure builder accountability, worker safety, pedestrian protection, and strict enforcement of construction norms. Heritage zones and residential colonies of South Delhi cannot be allowed to turn into unsafe and unhygienic construction sites.

Request urgent action, strict inspection, safety compliance checks, and accountability before another major tragedy happens.

However, residents urgently need a permanent long-term solution, not just routine cleaning after overflow happens.

The root cause must be addressed at the source inside the cluster area:

• Provide proper waste bins and waste management facilities inside the cluster
• Restart strict door-to-door garbage collection, which earlier helped control roadside dumping
• Stop open waste disposal near this heritage and residential stretch
• Upgrade the old sewer infrastructure which is unable to handle current load

If waste collection and disposal are managed properly at the source, this daily overflow, foul smell, pollution, and encroachment problem can reduce significantly.

Residents are ready to support authorities for a cleaner, healthier and more civilized South Delhi. 🙏
