I've made a verifiable EUR 25k in cumulative bookings on @bookingcom in the last ten years. The next ten years, it will be 0. Good to know how much your most loyal customers are worth to you. You certainly just lost one. 3/3
Hey @bookingcom we got a booking confirmation from you for a reservation that never made it through to the accommodation. We were nearly left stranded in deep snow in freezing temps up on a mountain with a kid and nowhere to stay. 1/3
We spent hundreds extra to quickly find an alternative. Your customer service offered us an insulting EUR 40 to make up for "the inconvenience" and insisted that's the best they can do. 2/3
Journalists who cover Elon Musk have been suspended on Twitter tonight: @Donie O'Sullivan from CNN, Aaron Rupar and the Washington Post's @drewharwell.
Rupar tells me he has "no idea" why it happened.
You may wonder how Elon Musk can be so consistently hilarious. One key technique he uses is to come up with prospective jokes, ask his employees if they're funny, and then fire anyone who says no.
Twitter has suspended the accounts of journalists who cover the company and owner Elon Musk, including reporters for The New York Times, Washington Post, and CNN. https://t.co/LqRYB4Nher
Musk has the right to suspend whichever account he wants to suspend — including this one.
But his behavior should conclusively put to rest the tiresome canard that he’s pro-“free speech.”
He isn’t.
He’s pro-free-speech-he-supports — and nothing more.
@noahsobe In international education, we are not all individual scholars, but also practitioners, members of think-tanks, NGOs, international organisations. Unlike some other servers, institutional accounts are explicitly welcome, and cross-posting from Twitter is not frowned upon. 3/4
@noahsobe Robin Shields and have set that up as a potential home for the international education community on Mastodon if there is demand for it, by making sure the policies are a good fit and the entry barrier is low. 2/4
@noahsobe That may have been me! :-) In case others want to dip their toes in the water, but prefer a topic-specific Mastodon instance, sign up here: https://t.co/KUllHqzJnQ. All are welcome! 1/4
@PrachiSrivas It seems a similar “gargle and spit” test has been approved in British Columbia? Are you suggesting it’s not being deployed (yet) for some reason?
@PrachiSrivas Yes, I think that’s correct. Anecdotally a couple of days, but that’s not a characteristic of that method, just lab capacity generally. It’s not a rapid test, the touted benefit is that it’s less invasive and doesn’t require training to obtain usable samples.
@PrachiSrivas I can confirm that here in Austria, “gargle” tests are no longer just proof-of-concept but the official method of choice in schools deployed at scale: https://t.co/7mQ86b56rU.
@Stadt_Wien@BgmLudwig Tolle Initiative, die Gastro-Gutscheine! Gibt es auch die Möglichkeit, diese an Haushalte zu spenden, die sie nötiger brauchen als man selbst?
