Today, the @CFPB is proposing a rule to accelerate a shift to open and decentralized banking. This will help people get more attractive interest rates, walk away from bad service, and better protect their personal financial data. https://t.co/cf5exVruqA
52M Americans own crypto. They’re younger & more diverse than the US population in total. But their voices aren’t being heard by Congress.
That’s about to change.
Here’s what we’re doing—and what you can do to help mobilize 1M people to #StandWithCrypto: https://t.co/dfSqhpS1e8
One of my most prized possessions is this artwork I bought over a decade ago that now hangs in my dining room. It’s #4 of an edition of 60 similar (but not fungible) “etchings” from Richard Serra’s “Paths and Edges” series, produced in 2007.
What if Serra had told me at the time, “I promise to keep producing great art until I die, and by the way, there’s a robust secondary market for my art” (which is true, b/c Serra is the GOAT 🙂🧑🎨🖼️).
And he used the proceeds from this sale to purchase more art supplies to produce more art, and to convince museums to display his art to further raise his profile to further increase the value of his works.
Is this all it takes to transform this art into a security? This cannot possibly be the law, nor what Congress or the Supreme Court in Howey meant by an “investment contract.”
I don’t see what the limiting principle is if we apply this same reasoning to NFTs, regardless of how fungible they are, or how much liquidity there is on the secondary market, or how the proceeds are used, etc.
And, I frankly don’t see why the same reasoning wouldn’t apply to most (fungible) crypto tokens in general. I’ll have more to say on this - stay tuned.
My ADHD boyfriend has been at my house for almost 11 hours and was just suddenly like "oh my cabbage!" and produced a bag of shredded cabbage from his luggage with no further explanation...

⚠️THERMONUCLEAR BAD—Hospitals completely overwhelmed in China ever since restrictions dropped. Epidemiologist estimate >60% of 🇨🇳 & 10% of Earth’s population likely infected over next 90 days. Deaths likely in the millions—plural. This is just the start—🧵
Sadly we cannot outcompete multibillion VCs who copy-paste our architecture and code (open source, right?).
@AkulaApp is winding down and I'll be taking a break from Ethereum core dev for the foreseeable future.
Buried in yesterday's news:
While criminals who steal billions walk free, smart contract developer Alexey Pertsev remains in Dutch prison on money laundering charges.
His "crime"?
Writing open-source, autonomous code.
This is a chilling day for technology:
I recently came across data on who we spend our time with over the course of our lives.
The insights are simultaneously inspiring and depressing.
Here are 6 graphs everyone needs to see:
People might think Matt is overstating this but I literally heard it from NYT reporters at the time. There was a top-down decision that tech could not be covered positively, even when there was a true, newsworthy and positive story. I'd never heard anything like it.
1. Hello. Amazon today announced it would pay $1.7 billion to acquire iRobot, the company behind the Roomba robotic vacuum.
It may be the most dangerous, threatening acquisition in the company's history. A thread.
