@JimmyMcd62 What? Denying all the home nations part in the British empire makes them sound like weak cannon fodder that had no impact. They certainly did have a huge impact. "their" is very much "we". We should own our impact on the world - which was good AND bad.
@end3of6days9 Not a big deal. I would put the pennies back in the bucket and leave them there. There is no receipt, and he left them in a public building. It is not the clerks responsibility to look out for the personal property he left.
@KelseyMBrickl@TouchmineX I think you missed my point, or chose to ignore it.
Perhaps you are perfect, and the internet is magically accurate for you so that you never made any social mistakes when first in a new foreign country.
Not everyone is that lucky.
Well done.
@KelseyMBrickl@TouchmineX ...being aware that "smiling at strangers is not a universal greeting", always carry cash, use Taxis over Uber etc...nothing specific about tipping rules at all.
@KelseyMBrickl@TouchmineX Easier said than done. If its a country that speaks a different language to me, I am relying on sites in English that have detail. Also, what do I ask? A search on "are there any weird things i should think about as a visitor to New York" only gives me information about scams...
@garyalsmith They seemed sure that it was their managers fault after losing by 4 goals in the 1st match. They sacked him, got a new manager in...and lost the next game by 4 goals.
I don't think it's the manager.
@neysbroTTT@KelseyMBrickl@TouchmineX This is not true. Its a common internet myth. The employer legally has to pay staff up to the federal minimum wage and there are other rules to protect the pay of workers. https://t.co/pOQaYsxwzh
@KelseyMBrickl@TouchmineX Equally as a local who sees tourists mistakes - you try and be polite and not embarrass them. If there are rules, they need to be shared to visitors. It has been many years since I have been in a New York yellow cab but it did have a clear sign about tipping expectations.
@shane_chaffin@suraj_sharma14 LOTS of people saw it coming. The lawsuits for web scraping, the mass sharing of copyright information, the ignoring of robots.txt. Corporate theft is not new, and it IS predictable.
Here's some irony for you: https://t.co/qTCv1sHaAs
@deejayhatesyou@HistoryWJacob Medieval combat with extra padding and long breaks after they move a few yards. And then, when they lose the ball, a whole other set of players come on to to give them a rest. lol
