The problem with the current state of crypto custody is that the custodians do not need to commit fraud for all of your assets to be wiped out due to the failure of the custodian. Crypto can’t materially advance as a business tool or an asset class until custody is fixed.

This focus on the token issuer rather than customers speaks volumes. Ackman is re-treading ground those who have been watching already considered and rejected years ago.

In a recent thread on crypto, I argued that crypto and tokens enabled the formation of businesses that heretofore could not be created. Some responded that cash could be used in place of tokens, and therefore the ‘innovation’ of crypto was not meaningful. I beg to differ.
