Tune into @BBCTwo this Saturday night to watch a whole evening of programming dedicated to Paul's career featuring a collection of performances & best BBC moments, last year’s Bramall Lane concert, 'The Housemartins in London 0 Hull 4' documentary first broadcast in 1987 & more!
Three of my favourite museums - The Jackfield Tile Museum at Ironbridge, The Chair Museum in High Wycombe & The Reading Museum which includes the glorious Huntley & Palmer Biscuit Tin Collection plus Britain's very own copy of the Bayeux Tapestry.
“Sheringham screaming as he sprints for the corner, a comet’s head with a tail of red shirts streaming out behind him” — Boris Starling remembers a famous victory https://t.co/fpj999LF1X
In 1981, a non-descript, small bungalow on the edge of Norwich, 5 minutes from my house, welcomed a new tenant.
The people living here now are likely oblivious to the significance of this bungalow, sitting among other identical houses in this small cul-de-sac.
The new guy would have arrived here likely feeing anxious. It was his first step in single-seater racing, miles from native Brazil
He needn’t have worried. He won the RAC & Townsend-Thoreson Formula Ford 1600 Championships that year with the local Van Diemen team. He had pressure to return to Brazil & the family business, but, thankfully he carried on racing.
Then, 30 years ago today, he lost his life at Imola, and we were denied the talents of one of the greatest, most inspiring #F1 drivers ever seen.
However, Rugge Drive, in 1981, will forever be the place Ayrton Senna’s journey in European single seater-racing first began.
Here’s the house now with a simple yellow daffodil from my garden. 💛
Sir Bobby Charlton talking about his experience of the 1999 UCL final will forever be one of my favourite interviews.
A great legend of this football club.❤
@NoContextBrits My little brother got lost in big M&S in Manchester around 1980. He was found and returned to us by Eddie Yeats from Coronation Street
A strange silence had settled on the burrow.
One of the Wombles' favourite humans had gone away and left them, seemingly forever.
No-one quite knew what to say, and even Tobermory wandered the burrow, giving a shoulder-squeeze to every young Womble he encountered on the way.
