Stripe's Will Gaybrick: "Build everything"
Against an industry that sees agents as a way to cut costs, Stripe is using them to build more: agents wrote 30% of code in a week, global tax filing shipped in 1/3 the time the US version took, and after AI made sellers 20% more productive, Stripe hired even more sellers.
President of Technology & Business @gaybrick sits down with a16z's David George to cover why there's no one left for Stripe to copy, why checkout pages will disappear, how agents plus stablecoins make micropayments real, and why tokens are becoming a currency worth protecting like dollars.

Anthropic setting up its own wet lab is the clearest signal yet: left unchecked, proprietary LLM vendors will verticalize into every high-value industry.
When you route your core IP through closed model providers, you're just paying for the R&D of your future rival.

.@jeffbezos on why founders shouldn't chase trends:
"Don't chase the hot new thing. Whatever it is, it's so hard to catch something that everybody already knows is hot. Instead, position yourself and wait for the wave to come to you — position yourself in something that captures your curiosity, something you're missionary about. When we acquire companies, I'm always trying to figure out: is this person a missionary or a mercenary? The missionary is building the product because they love the customer, because they love the product. The mercenary is building it so they can flip the company and make money. One of the great paradoxes is that the missionaries usually end up making more money than the mercenaries anyway.
So pick something you're passionate about — that's my number one piece of advice. And the second thing is, once you've done that, just start with the customer and work backwards. Those two things will take you an awfully long way."
On AI capabilities: the French press is all over the Haitian-Canadian novel C’était ça ou mourir. It's winning basically every award you can win, and was tipped to be the 2nd Canadian winner of the Prix Goncourt. Only one problem: 1/2
