Today in Tampa, I outlined the Save Our Homes from Excessive Property Taxes plan that will eliminate taxes on homesteads. 

Property tax revenue collected by local governments has nearly doubled in the past seven years (from $32 billion to $60 billion) and is expected to reach an astounding $83 billion by 2032.

Florida homeowners need relief. Now is the time to stand up for taxpayers, enact a historic reform, and save the home of every Floridian.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the “Teddy Bridgewater Act” into law on Friday, per @AP, meaning high school coaches in the state will now be able to use their own money to help their players with expenses such as food, transportation, physical therapy and rehabilitation services.

The AI Bill of Rights defends consumers, medical patients, and families in Florida from the potential harms of artificial intelligence applications. It is especially important that we protect the most vulnerable among us: our children.

Today, I announced that I am directing our state agencies to work with the Future of Life Institute and experts who study AI-human interactions to improve our understanding of AI harm to children. Through this collaboration, the state will develop a crisis counselor training curriculum to navigate AI-related mental health, as well as an AI Harms Reporting Form.

The Florida Senate passed the AI Bill of Rights, but Florida House leadership is blocking it. It is incumbent on the Legislature to act in the best interests of the people who elected them and defend the rights of all Floridians, especially children.

Today, I joined Fox and Friends Weekend to discuss the Healthy Florida First initiative. In light of FDOH findings of toxins in infant formula, Florida is leading the charge to do independent testing of our food supply to help ensure it’s not tainted with harmful chemicals. We are asking other states to join forces to utilize their assets to test products. Our goal is to hold companies accountable through testing and to provide transparency to the consumer.

Ultimately, we would like products to be tested BEFORE they hit the market, which unfortunately, for various reasons, is not happening. We cannot allow food companies to prioritize profits over the health and well-being of the people, even if it’s inadvertent. With support from our federal MAHA partners, now is the time to drive change….and as a cancer survivor and mother, I pray this can hopefully contribute to making Florida, and ultimately America, healthier.

Since 2019, Florida has invested $4.6 billion in teacher pay increases. For the upcoming year, @GovRonDeSantis signed $1.25 billion in the budget for teacher salary increases, an increase of over $200 million over last year. Florida is committed to supporting teachers.
