@mert Work 120+ hours a week, have all your personal relationships fall apart, sleep at the factory, live under constant attack, etc.
I like to think I'm pretty smart but helllll no
@sircryptotips Its interesting because a lot of those people had less on paper, but they could actually spend it if they wanted. If Elon tried to spend his money, the vast majority would vanish into thin air. Its money on paper, not reality.
@GoodAMLiberty Honestly if he tried to liquidate his $1t i doubt he would get 10% of that. I suspect its actually impossible, and probably illegal somehow.
@itsolelehmann The reasoning makes sense, but it misses the true risk. Historically, as goods get cheaper, people still need to make them. That means people get paid, and so participate.
The true risk is if people are not needed, why should the rich keep us around? Why bother?
@MichelleLA1981 Safe consumption sites: no one goes there except addicts. If your teen is there they already fucked up hard.
And social media definitely has downsides. As with most complicated things deciding if it is "bad" or "good" is a fools errand.
@Andercot He has a talent for explaining scientific concepts in a relatable and understandable way. That has value.
His opinions I don't love. If he's talking about the future I tune out.
@omgsidewalks Unfortunately the west is obsessed with "deserving". They would rather poverty than risk undeserving people get stuff for free.
"Judgement is mine" said the lord, but I think the christian (historically) west missed the point.
@JasonKander What if you believe you are the organization making the world a better place?
Elon is doing his best to make the world better, and while reasonable minds can disagree, its hard to categorically call his efforts bad.
Who would you give it to?
@MichaelButtonX Nuclear waste. Nuclear reactors have produced isotopes with half-lifes in the low thousands of years. An isotope with that profile will have decayed away if it was created naturally, but it will still be detectable in 10k years.
@JuddLegum Yep. Its a long term bet, longer term than anything that has existed before. A common sci-fi view of the future is "megacorporations", Elon is the first entity that could be that.
If you need earnings now stay away.
@bourscheid Thats actually kinda what he is trying to do in a way. Your mistake is thinking you can throw money at problems, it doesn't really work that way.
All you could do "more" is overthrow the government, do you advocate for that?
@OrevaZSN Stop using an auto to go evertwhere. Walk to town, ride your horse, use a cart and wagon, whatever. Just stop using automobiles for basic transportation.
