You think, ‘It wouldn’t happen now’ while literally days ago a Baroness was defending her vote for Section 28 on the basis that it was HIV prevention.
Note: Section 28 was not HIV prevention; it was legislated homophobia that hampered the sharing of safer sex information.
@mattpocockuk I honestly think black-box testing in this situation is the only practical approach when your API has any appreciable complexity.
I've been burnt in a similar situation where we ended up mocking hundreds of complex API calls to test our UI rather than just test the stack
It's about time we lived up to the promise of our founders who proudly declared E Pluribus Unum which means one nation under God. How have we forgotten that?
GB : The end of coal generation occurred in the UK sometime a little after 15:35 today when Ratcliffe-on-Soar unit 4 switched off for the last time. ^PH
@OilSheppard@JonnElledge@guardian Yeah, but will anyone remember any of this in 2029? It's such small stuff. Might as well get it out of the way now, give it time to become normal. If you can't do stuff like this just after a wave election, you can never do it! Even though it's good policy!
@OilSheppard@JonnElledge@guardian At some point you have to stop campaigning and actually, you know, improve things. And sometimes those things aren't fun vote-winners, just good governance. Vibes aren't everything!
🚨 Grenfell Inquiry report 🚨
- "Complacent" govt "well aware" of risk of cladding disaster but failed to act
- "Systematic dishonesty" by product manufacturers "very significant reason" for fire
- "Chronic and systemic" fire safety failures by tower's social landlords
The final report of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry has now been published. On this day, we remember the 72 lives lost.
This report demonstrates beyond doubt that an agenda of deregulation cost lives.
We share the grief and anger of the bereaved, survivors and residents.
Grenfell still stands as a monument to elected representatives ignoring the people who put them there, enormous and allowed greed, regulatory capture and laissez-faire economics.
Justice for Grenfell must include ending all of these.

I feel Daniel Hannan is getting a lot of unfair press at the moment so here's something to balance it out, showing his keen mind and expertise in political analysis.
@shaun_vids This approach feels somewhat feudal. In a democracy, aren't the voters supposed to hold the power (and thus the responsibility)? What do we gain from treating them like sheep?
