I learned a lot this semester. Professor McCormick gave the class great understanding of disruptive technology. Thank you all for a wonderful semester! #DCIM353McCormick
@andyoupar While the necessary technology for this could be quite revolutionary, we must also think about the impact that this could have on jobs and the overall economy, given the oversaturation of the job market.
@KarinaG2021 It is pretty amazing how quickly streaming took over DVDs and Blockbuster. The business models of Netflix and HBO are far more effective and entertaining than their predecessors.
I think that disruptive technologies will be happening less frequently than we think. The progress and impact of technology on people in asymptotic, and we're already dealing with tech/social media's mental and psychological tolls #DCIM353McCormick
The progress of technology can be very significant, but it is somewhat limited by its value in the capitalist market. Society is quite utilitarian, and it will use new technology for a better and more expedient lifestyle #DCIM353McCormick
@stephxwang Social media has had major effects on human interactions, many of which are not yet fully understood. It will interesting to see how people will respond to these changes years from now. Society is constantly-evolving for better or worse.
@riyapatelru 3D printing is certainly a rising technology. Though it's not yet perfected or widely-used, it does have a lot of potential for manufacturing and the general use of products. If done correctly, 3D printing could be as popular as regular printing.
@MarieKylie3 TikTok is a very prevalent form of social media. It is fascinating how the app can find what users would like and how it treats content vis-à-vis Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
For my EDTP project, I have decided to study the digitalization of media and online journalism. Its effects on politics have been remarkable, as well as the creation of trends and widespread beliefs. #DCIM353McCormick
@sra105 I can see how social media has been shifting towards more professional opportunities. I think that the good thing about social media is that it's great to advertise new businesses and ideas.
@Chris_Janania Many people spend hours on end communicating online. This can very possibly negatively affect peoples' abilities to communicate with others in person.
A changing social norm is the source of news. People get their news from social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc, as opposed to more "traditional" sources. https://t.co/Bkd0x7ar7s
