@GergelyOrosz N26 had this for bank transfers over the summer and never even announced it! Just would get a message 30 seconds after initiating that it failed. Had to ask support what was wrong and they didn’t even know until they checked!
@BiggestComeback Salted, in fridge uncovered for at least an hour, ideally up to 24 hours before.
Reverse sear with a temp probe in the oven as low as it goes.
Once at desired temp, sear in the heaviest pan you have. Cast iron, stainless, whatever. Mix of olive oil and butter, tallow, whatever.

@simonsarris@ja3k_ Gemini is still poor, enterprise approach is lacking coherency, and Google can’t be trusted to not rug pull critical features in the future. It’s why they struggle with GCP so much. Google have the best video models but no one wants to touch them for anything critical.
@simonsarris I think it’s Japan that tax on use as well and they change it over time to encourage and discourage based on changing needs. Basically always encouraging the most efficient/most good use. Discourages empty lots in cities.
The reason you couldn’t wash your cast iron was because of lye in dish detergent, which hasn’t contained lye in like 40 fucking years. Now your apple turnovers taste like fish for no reason, wash that shit out
@GergelyOrosz What’s funny is that AWS is so reliable historically they seem to have the biggest shortage now while you can get what you need from Google because they’ve always had less demand!
I have to admit, I have zero excitement about this latest flurry of new model releases
I am sure they are all better, but the existing ones were more than good enough, and I'm learning how much to trust those existing ones... and already they do more than I can utilize them (for writing code)
So no, I'm not particularly excited about Fable 5.1 or Astra or anything else - what would I use it for??
It's kind of amazing how our entire company runs on G Suite and yet we never use Gemini for anything work related.
I can't even remember the last time I used Gemini work even though its embedded in every Google surface area... I just default to ChatGPT because it works
Also, local models seem inevitable.
I want to be able to run a “good enough” model on my laptop, or even on my phone, and not depend on paying for an API that changes prices in ways I don’t control.
AI labs will hate this idea of the future, cloud providers will love it tho.
