@LukeBarnett I had a job at an arthouse movie theatre in 2007 when I was 16. I got to see all these for free. No wonder I ended up getting a film degree.

The couple behind me in the theatre was so shocked by certain scenes they were gasping, swearing, and spilling food pretty consistently for about 3.5 hours. That's my endorsement.

But Scorsese's use of it is not like that at all. It's jarring... creating a sense of closeness, then intrusion. Anyway, there are plenty of non-film-geek things to be excited about with this film.
