OpenAI has spent four years turning ChatGPT from a website you visit into a worker that visits other websites for you.
GPT-6 Astra can update CRM records, organize calendars, fill out forms, build spreadsheets, install and test software, create websites and operate CAD tools. On OSWorld, it scored 72.6% while taking roughly 40 minutes per task. GPT-5.6 Sol scored 65.7% and took around 75 minutes. On AutomationBench, Astra scored 41.4% compared with 18.1% for GPT-5.6 Sol.
The part that matters for software companies is integrations. Most workplace automation requires an API, a custom connector or support from the software vendor. Astra can use the same screens an employee already uses. A company running old software may be able to automate it without waiting for the vendor to add an AI feature.
If Astra works this reliably outside OpenAI’s tests, some software will be automated before its maker ships a single AI feature.
