Looking forward to diving deeper into these apps. Although my school uses PBIS, we donโt have a structured reward system, which inevitably affects proper implementation. #summer6110
Implementing a successful PBIS program can be a challenge for educators, but these 5 reward apps can make things easier! Check out the list here ๐ฑ https://t.co/LJtd6x71nG
As I read more about PBIS in schools, proper implementation is a key topic that often comes up. And Iโm now asking, how do we monitor proper implementation? The article below gives tips for schools to stay on track. https://t.co/w64uVI9v3w #summer6110
@EvansReevans This is a great article! I would love to have opportunities to integrate IVR in my classroom. Finding new ways to engage learners while providing quality instruction is always exciting.
@MmeHutchings Thank you for the reply! I agree about choice and voice to those needing to execute the changes. It seems it would make a difference in morale and buy-in.
Interesting starting point for another potential research topic. How to get teacher buy-in when implementing a change. Narrowing down to one specific research question is my current priority. #summer6110

Making the decision to pursue the effectiveness of PBIS as my research topic. During the interview linked here, Rhonda Nese states that a philosophical shift from teachers is necessary. I agree, and have seen that as a challenge with colleagues (and myself). #summer6110
Today's blog features an interview with #IESFunded researcher Rhonda Nese (@uoeducation) who is tackling the challenge of narrowing the opportunity gap in middle school classrooms by developing an alternative to exclusionary discipline. https://t.co/iJFSzm3CdL
@MsFeener This is always a concern in June as I watch my students leaving for the summer. I wish I had a successful strategy on how to solve this. Parent engagement (or lack of) seems to be an issue at the elementary level.
PBIS can be effective when it is implemented and sustained properly and with reliability. (J.L. Van Otterloo, 2021). https://t.co/5xkWn55vCH #summer6110
Posting about this account because I feel it has lots of reliable links and articles that are relevant to my research topics. @JofSchoolPsych#summer6110
I am not convinced that PBIS is effective after seeing it in my school. But, the reliable research I am finding supports that PBIS is effective. There are opposing views to this issue, but the hunt continues to find strong data that I could use in a literature review. #summer6110
School Violence: Why does it often go unreported? "Why bother... when it doesnโt go anywhere?" Some were โdiscouraged from reportingโ by principals... All of this โspeaks to the cultureโ of silence & concealment and the โtone at the topโ of the system.

As I reflect on generating teacher buy-in when implementing new school-wide programs (for example, UFLI), I find this post to be an interesting perspective. If we understood HOW to implement the program in an effective way, there may be easier transfer. #summer6110
The ultimate goal of all learning is transfer -- the ability to apply what we learned to new situations.
And...it's really hard to achieve. Adults and children alike have trouble knowing which prior knowledge to draw upon in new situations.
Enter our method for conceptual transfer -- It's a powerful, research-backed way to teach us how to recognize which prior knowledge will help us unlock new situations.
Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

New report from the May Institute has found using PBIS with students with disabilities can result in major improvements in social, emotional and behavior outcomes. Read here!
