...and following Thailand's lead should hardly be a policy that India (a democracy) should endorse or that either India or China should see as a path to stability. It's certainly not an outcome the people of Myanmar would accept at this point.

#China and #India see elections as a possible exit from #Myanmar's coup-induced crisis. They should note the certainty of a boycott and continued violence.

Any plan that doesn't start with a new federal, democratic constitution is dead in the water.

Min Aung Hlaing may have eyed Prayut's 2014 coup, 2017 constitution, and 2019 elections in #Thailand as a model. The popularity of the NLD and ASSK, disdain of the military, severity of armed conflict, and commission of atrocity crimes make the situations non-comparable.
