Groups who revere the same New Testament have practiced and abolished slavery, enacted pacifism and crusades, burned heretics and defended religious liberty, sheltered Jews and murdered them, attacked and defended Ukraine…

There is no such thing as the content of a text without interpretation. Accepting that there is an 'essential form' of a religion is endorsing the dogma of fundamentalists.
