@dionbennett99 I agree with this, I think since economies and recovering from Covid for example, the value of live music is increasing again as the profit can be seem from stadium tours #W23POPMUS
@Quantuminsanit1 I agree that this is less present in other genres. Living in Newfoundland gives us access to lots of live music in this gendra that I would prefer compared to recordings. However for pop, I usually prefer recordings becusse it so so expensive to travel and see concertsW23POPMUS
I agree with Wald assessment to a certain extent. Living in Newfoundland limits the live music you can hear unlike say living in Toronto. But if I could get access to it, I would prefer live. For example live Newfouldnad music opposed to recorded NL music. #W23POPMUS
@zachary_b_593 Hi Zachary, I find comparing covers of songs and song being “schlock” to be interesting. Some people think it is cultural appropriation or just simply a cover of a song while some view it as fun, unique twist on songs and to be a good thing. #W23POPMUS
@awarfordmun I find this oppinion very interesting, I never thought about it as anything other than appropriation but with the proper consent it can be a alternative style on music and be unique #W23POPMUS
Cultural appropriation is a wide issue that entails complex problems. Some forms of music such as schlock rock steals elements from various cultures and portrays the as their own. I do see that music has often borrowed from different gendras, cultures and traditions. #W23POPMUS
Ray Charles used a breakingvoice to convey emotions about a women in his song (I’ve got a woman”) like many blue songs he uses a mixture of blue-y cool, and brassy Jazz. His style was groundbreaking and reflected his emotions in singing about his life experiences.#W23POPMUS
@Mspuddicombe I also think emotion is his main motivation behind his breaking voice. His decsion to do so gives him a sense of personality in his music. It definitely connects the music and those who listens #23POPMUS
@hamz7naser The song “I’ve got a woman “ is a great example of Ray Charles use of breaking voice. It creates a different level of emotion that few other techniques can master. The blues traditions is prevalent in his work #W23POPMUS
@chboland1 I also remember when headphones became taboo if they had a cord. It was definitely seem a class or wealth symbol that you had the trendy airpods #W23POPMUS
@jeffreyahodder I agree that these deluxe albums are definitely marketing schemes to try the albums fell more special or to make money while providing a false value #W23POPMUS
The recently developed listening technology has developed over the years to show social class. When I was a kid you could get a pair of cheap headphone for $20 and it would be normal. Now headphones are hundreds of dollars. These brands include, AirPods,Samsung. #W23POPMUS
@chboland1 This concept was definitely intriguing as it was such a trivial part of the listening experience that had no affect on the actual sound or music. Air pods definitely seemed to be the rich persona headphones
@Rpomeroy13 I agree artist who center music around wealth, jewelry, and brag of this wealth create false needs. I also can see how it can be for a passive audience.
False needs that have been created by popular music and media industries is the illusion of being perfect. This stems from being wealthy or looking certain way. I believe that it propagates a dumbed-down form of music because of these false needs #W23POPMUS
