@BittensorIntern@const_reborn@taostrioti Because it’s delegation and not self-allocation when staking TAO. You can do self-allocation when staking to subnets directly.
@const_reborn@taostrioti I guess - this will dial up the competition between validators. Competition between subnets & miners is already fierce. Another vector of competition and dynamic-TAO
$TAO Bittensor Root Reborn, explained without drama.
Const’s main point is simple:
Trusted Stake, Mentat Minds, Crucible and others already redistribute root yield into subnet alpha baskets.
Root Reborn brings that behavior directly on-chain, standardized, visible, trustless and verifiable.
Today, root yield creates constant sell pressure because subnet dividends are automatically sold back into TAO.
Const estimated that pressure around 1,000 TAO per day.
Root Reborn changes the flow. Instead of auto-selling yield, validators can curate where that yield is reinvested across subnets.
From a user perspective, principal stays untouched. Root remains risk-free on principal. The yield becomes more dynamic because it sits in alpha until claimed.
If you don’t want to participate, you can simply claim continuously and keep the experience close to the current one.
The bigger shift is validator relevance.
Validators become yield managers. They compete on allocation.
Stakers can see the baskets, compare performance, and move away from bad allocators.
It becomes visible, measurable, and punished through worse returns.
For subnets, the downside does not get worse.
If validators do allocate to you, Root can become net positive buy pressure.
That is the real change. Less automatic selling.
More reinvestment.
More curation.
More structure.
More capital staying inside Bittensor.
Const framed TAO as something closer to a decentralized bank of assets, or a hedge fund curating subnet tokens. A protocol that reinvests into the ecosystem it is trying to grow.
The PR still needs review and safeguards.
But the direction is clear. Root Reborn brings validators back into the game.
The origin of this post was an X Space hosted by Jesus Martinez, where Const and Algod were supposed to discuss these changes. Algod didn’t show up. Listen to the full recording below.
@const_reborn, is Algod still invited to the next NS?
@AlgodTrading, will you join, with a little more time to prepare and discuss?
@steve_stevenso@const_reborn@thecryptogus@AlgodTrading That’s what I am asking - how volatile will be APR differences. I want to set and forget (as much as possible for root staking rewards). Feel more reassured now after @const explanation.
@buzzli8yr@AlgodTrading@TrustedStake@mentatminds It actually insanely simple: your root staking yield is curated. For a user it means nothing more than they get a higher or lower APY across validators based on their performance (a.k.a the exact same way it is today ... )
People just freak out about everything.

@const_reborn@AlgodTrading@TrustedStake@mentatminds Indeed, very simple when explained as above. The foundation needs to wear a PM hat and explain in layman terms like above. Participants care about BitTensor and hence need to clarify. Retail investors will not be reading through the GitHub PRs.
@const_reborn@thecryptogus@AlgodTrading That is the passive yield which root stakers don’t want to worry about. Will the root stakers need to get more diligently involved in selecting the validator now more than before?
@const_reborn@thecryptogus@AlgodTrading Thanks for replying, really appreciate you refining the BitTensor mechanics and keep experimenting. WRT this update you mentioned - “Now root stakers can watch an respond to bad Validators in real time.”
The root stakers don’t want to respond to real time.
