@gahwan_yoo @Stata Thanks so much for creating this awesome tutorial! I'm the maintainer of getcensus. I know your tutorial will help more Stata users take advantage of getcensus in their work!
@AsjadNaqvi Thanks for this thread + for the feedback! I'd be remiss if I didn't put in a plug for getcensus users to submit bug reports and feature requests to the GitHub repo: https://t.co/zTdCNmnrgr
HISTORIC GAINS FOR CHILDREN: Today’s @USCensusBureau data show that the expanded #ChildTaxCredit drove a record-breaking drop in child poverty in 2021.
👇🏾
Important point from Robert Rubin & Jack Lew in support of a fully-refundable #ChildTaxCredit:
Reducing child poverty not improves children's lives; it strengthens the nation's economy overall.

@dodsonadvocate@TrisiDanilo We're digging into the other hardship indicators in the latest Pulse data now, and will tweet/blog if there's anything notable to report.
🧵An expanded, permanently fully refundable #ChildTaxCredit is especially needed right now:
As families face rising costs for everyday essentials w/o the extra help of monthly CTC payments, financial hardship among adults w/ kids has risen to its highest level in nearly a year.
@dodsonadvocate@TrisiDanilo The rate of financial hardship among adults w/ kids in the latest Pulse data, collected in early April, was 41% – not significantly different from the previous data & also higher than the rate in late March 2021 (34%).
The Rescue Plan #ChildTaxCredit kept 3.7M kids from #poverty in Dec. 2021. Most low-income families used the monthly payments for basic needs like food & utility bills.
An expanded CTC is a proven tool for shoring up families’ financial security. Policymakers need to use it.
(Okay, maybe not always, but at least since 1920).

@gahboer @CenterOnBudget CBPP does have data on Puerto Rico's Nutrition Assistance Program on our website: https://t.co/TKnp9xCC6i

@gahboer @CenterOnBudget The poverty and tax credit tables include Puerto Rico, but the other tables do not b/c the programs either work very differently in Puerto Rico, exist in a different form, or exclude U.S. territories.
.@CenterOnBudget's data dashboard shows the anti-poverty effects of economic security programs in each state, including the number of people & children lifted above the poverty line and poverty rates before & after gov't assistance and taxes.
