The chances of an African becoming Pope are slim. The election is decided by 133 Cardinals, of which only 17 are African. The remaining 116—though they may be Spanish, Russian, French, Italian, American, or Asian—are often broadly categorized as "white" because of their skin color.
The election of a Pope isn’t based on continental representation—it's not a case of "let each continent bring one Cardinal," which would make Africa just 1 out of 7. Even if that were the case, what are the chances?
When a European is elected, we say, "He's white." If it's someone from North America—still white. From Australia? White again. Even Asia, many would still categorize them as white based on skin tone. So the question arises: why not a Black Pope? When will we see another Black Pope?
But here's the truth—it’s not racism. If you’re choosing from a group where 6 out of 7 have lighter skin, the odds are naturally higher that the chosen person will be white. The same goes for the 133 Cardinals—117 of them are white by appearance. So even if you were blindfolded and asked to pick, chances are you'll keep choosing white Cardinals. It’s about numbers and representation, not discrimination.
Pope Leo XIV, the newly elected Pope, is the first American ever to be chosen. Imagine that—after 266 Popes, none had been American until now. Meanwhile, Africa has already produced three Popes in history. Yes 3 Popes. One day, there will be a fourth African Pope.
While others see color, we see Cardinals.
And just to clarify, Cardinal Arinze is over 80 years old and therefore not eligible to be elected Pope.
Thank you.

@czarizunna@Sports_Doctor2 So in your opinion he should take a pay cut from 350k to 150k?
That's insulting.
And go learn how to count, September to December is not 6 months.
He knows his worth.
