@thecitywanderer It’s cost. Subway tile actually takes some skill and is done in increments of one tile size~ 3”x6”. The tiles you see here are rather large and therefore much faster and easier to install. Yes the printed pattern is not attractive.

Owner is allowed to follow the “cellar to sky” rule by way of full gut renovation. Either way state-enabled building-wide evictions.
