You have to wonder why the NYC Council is going to allow Eric Adams to dogwalk them when it comes to City of Yes. The legislation sucks, there's obvious corruption involved, your constituents don't want it and you're all running for something next year. Shoot this thing down.
The clock is ticking and about to run out on Elizabeth Street Garden, a treasured downtown community park space.
@ElizabethStGrdn community organizers have done a tremendous job doing everything possible to save this beautiful open space from destruction by the City.
ESG is located in a dense and over populated area of Manhattan that desperately needs free green space for its residents to enjoy.
Thanks to @ElizabethStGrdn efforts, close to 1 million New Yorkers have rallied to save ESG, and yet @NYCMayor@NYCMayorsOffice@ChrisMarteNYC@CMCarlinaRivera@MarkLevineNYC@NYCSpeakerAdams have moved ahead with plans to destroy the garden.
What does this mean for New Yorkers and downtown residents?
Instead of hundreds of thousands of people enjoying free open space every year a few lucky people will get a taxpayer subsidized place to live . Many of these people will not be from the area.
The developers and those who work on building this housing after the garden is destroyed will benefit while the thousands upon thousands of residents and visitors will lose this free space forever.
Sure more housing is important but @ElizabethStGrdn and their supporters have located other spots nearby for this tall tower to be built. The City has turned these sites down without explanation.
There seems to be an element of cruelty and mean spiritedness in the decision to destroy this garden that I find concerning.
The alternatives will do significantly less harm to the community. Good leadership should mandate that these options would be chosen first.
What’s next? Battery Park?
I am hoping for a miracle.

The @nyc_evsa is NYC's preeminent street safety org fighting for e-bike + e-scooter regulation + accountability. App-fueled @TransAlt wants -no mandatory helmets, teens on e-bikes, no stopping at red lights, no licensing, no insurance, no enforcement.

It's amazing that I'm on a CB4 call, and @TransAlt is presenting a plan to subsidize High School kids to ride @lyft Citi-E-Bikes for $5/mo, without helmets, as if this idea is in anyway a rational! @nyc_evsa NYC is under special interest control. What is the serious F**k!
You guys rock! Standing up for the majority of New Yorkers who are fed up with e-bikes on our sides, running red lights, driving the wrong way! We so appreciate your advocacy!
Thank you @GaleBrewerNYC for signing on to 0060, e-bikes out of parks! @nyc_evsa represents the majority, and we won't let the app-fueled @TransAlt bully you!
In Manhattan Community District 2 over 140 previously unlicensed spaces have been converted to bars in the last seven years. And temp licenses have sped the process. Your "achievement" = the loss of businesses that once truly served our community. @jessicaramosqns@HarveyforNY
“Expanding access to temporary liquor permits in NYC is a very important policy that will fill vacant storefronts and let new restaurants open faster, employ people sooner, and start generating tax revenue earlier, without compromising on community engagement, while the State Liquor Authority processes the permanent licenses. Thank you, Governor Hochul, Senator Jessica Ramos and Assemblymember Harvey Epstein, for your leadership and enacting this critical economic development legislation. Cheers!” Andrew Rigie, Executive Director, and Rob & Max Bookman, Counsel, NYC Hospitality Alliance
Anyone else out there "disappointed" that plywood shrink-wrapped rat traps will be disappearing from our streets? "Disappointed" that we MAY get our sidewalks back? "Disappointed" that restaurants have to pay for public property and follow rules? @theNYCAlliance@errollouis
@HaleyBrownNYC Dig deeper next time @AndrewRigie tells you he's disappointed in what HE created: Same guy one year ago: "This new law will cut the red tape and bureaucracy for small business owners to get a license and reduce the fees for restaurants"

Not so fast @AndrewRigie! Last year you were bragging about your creation: “Now, after two years of discussions and negotiations with the mayor’s administration and the City Council, led by our attorney Rob Bookman, a new outdoor dining program is coming.”https://t.co/6ZoUgFtEVq

I had to take a photo of such an uncommon occurrence. This avid cyclist and I spoke for a bit.He believes in all bikes stopping at red lights. He is a kind, thoughtful human. He doesn’t assume people will jump out of way.Imagine a city where all riders/drivers follow the laws. 💜
YIMBYs creaming their jeans over luxury 2-family rowhomes in Fort Greene that they think is “missing middle housing” and “illegal to build in most places” is just the laugh you need today.
The "security guards" covering the turnstiles on the subways have totally given up enforcement, if they ever tried. They are doing nothing but shooting the shit and looking at their phones. People are jumping the fare in their faces and they don't even make a peep.
What is wrong with registering e-bikes thus identifying riders who run red lights and ride on our sidewalks? NOTHING is wrong with it. It's just common sense. So let the City Council vote on this! That vote would tell us which electeds are against protecting pedestrians.
Too bad @NYCSpeakerAdams has been holding up a bill to register e-bikes for two years because she holds a Bayside High School like beef with @BobHoldenNYC .
We need governance FOR THE PEOPLE, mature governance, not this playground crap.
