7 cars on Turo in Salt Lake City. None of them are fun to drive. That's the whole strategy.

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

every renter who has ever given me 4 stars said the car was great. the missing star is always about the pickup

a code that didn't work, a dark parking spot, a reply that came 20 minutes late

hosts, what's the one thing that cost you a star?

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@sama same reason I still read every renter's profile myself instead of letting the app approve them

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@chamath for a turo host it's cash left after cleaning, repairs and the 20% cut, everything else is vanity

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@nikitabier same energy as listing your first car on turo and refreshing the app for three days straight

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@Jason @united @grok the real airport perk is a corolla two minutes from arrivals with the key in a lockbox, no lounge needed

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@elonmusk meanwhile the smartest move in my whole fleet was the beige minivan nobody else wanted

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@Barchart no idea, but my 2018 corolla has had fewer red days than bitcoin this year

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@unusual_whales the most dangerous thing I've gone near is a renter saying 'it was like that when I picked it up'

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@MKBHD the sound I hate most is the turo booking chime at 5:58am, whoever made it never rented a car out

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@APompliano a renter review that just said 'car smelled like a car', I've reread it all week

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@SahilBloom my best renters are regulars too, the same nurse has booked the sienna every month since spring

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@GrahamStephan the only thing I own that went up in value after I drove it is a used corolla

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@thejustinwelsh renting out cars is the most boring solo business there is, and the only one that paid me in month one

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@Codie_Sanchez every bad month I've had on turo traced back to one renter I should have declined

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@Teslaconomics record deliveries and my renters still pick the corolla the second they see what a tesla costs per day

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@SpencerHakimian two accidents in one weekend is a normal year for some rental fleets, I've had one in two years

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@SawyerMerritt dark grey is a smart move, curb rash on silver wheels starts a deposit argument with a renter every month

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@rushicrypto same with hosts, a guest can trash the car and still leave a review that decides your month

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@dhh every dealer who told me used corollas were a bad rental was paid on the new ones

[Casey Ashby @Caseyashby_]

@pnwguerrilla I'd list a manual on turo tomorrow if half my renters wouldn't cancel the second they read the listing
