@AustinHoney30 I think this may have been her teams strategy - have her play up her insane voice enough in a clip to go semi-viral; make her more visible and relatable
@Grimezsz I know two women in particular like this and they’re just ADHD women on the BPD/NPD spectrum. You can trace nearly every behavior, even the whimsy, to a mentalization handicap.
When voters think of “left” today they think of Pelosi in kente cloth, not the economic stuff. The economic stuff is just common sense. That’s why the party establishment is right wing on economics but seen as too left wing by normal people.
@_carlbeijer I like Dave Weigel because he catches on quicker to the actual sentiments of people than other more liberal voices in the media I’ve noticed recently, particularly with the left populist insurgencies. Seems to keep an open mind
@DropSiteNews@Mike_from_PA Ugh no we can’t achieve anything without epistemic analysis or ideology-conscious thinking 😔 I feel like I’m in a Black Mirror episode for real
My logic professor used the Duke lacrosse case in a cognitive bias unit on public reasoning collapsing under moral pressure. Affect heuristic raises evidentiary weight, identity protective cognition narrows acceptable interpretation, & normative influence polices non-condemnation
@SanchoPanzy I agree no human should be idolized & it’s wrong to reduce Maine voters here to infatuated blinkered drones. If someone seeking to represent you speaks granular details of your struggles & offers solutions in increasingly difficult times, those gains matter more than personality.
@ColeSandick Exactly. Seems like most people are talking about it on Facebook & Reddit, all from Maine w/ diff ages & occupations largely in support & expressing varying degrees of skepticism in the reporting. I’ve been able to use some of it for my sociology hw today too, interesting stuff!
@Timodc He gave hardworking Mainers a strong, dignified political identity rooted in realities only they know. Out of state pundits weighing in is exactly what his campaign gave voice to their hatred of. This is deep devastation for Mainers, and a talking point for everyone else.
@Timodc I think it’s a grave mistake not to think first and foremost about the people of Maine whose lives he gave unprecedented hope to: the 70 yearolds w/ tears in their eyes at his rallies, and the formerly apolitical people volunteering for a campaign for the first time in their life
@LeftyWinter FWIW, these are some of the FB comments coming in from people in Maine, I like checking official Facebook uploads in hyperlocal moments like these cause it’s where regular people in the area go to talk about it & weigh in, with state/location most verifiable

For all the saints on Twitter today, keep this exact same energy when your friend, daughter, coworker, or sister tells you a man abused her. Immediate, vehement condemnation comes easily when the man is on TV, yet is rarely given when he is someone people know in real life.
@auxtron@ThatRedCatholic@LeftyWinter Well I hope this sparks a conversation about how incredibly common it is for men to force pressure women when blackout drunk
@adammocklerr I really really wish she had proof beyond what she emailed people/her new therapist after he launched his campaign :/ really sucks for potential victims
