I have just joined the big exodus to @bluesky. Expect the regular schedule: a lot about Palestine 🍉, humanitarian aid, development and human rights 🌍🇺🇳. And the occasional comment on pop culture, Lego and Nintendo. Different place, same agenda! 👇

Sudan. Gaza. Yemen. Myanmar.
Conflict is the main driver of hunger in most of the world’s food crises today.
Food insecurity worsens when fighting drives large numbers of people from their homes, and when it restricts access to life-saving assistance.

The 'humanitarian zone' in #Gaza has been repeatedly hit by airstrikes, according to latest research from the BBC.
"We have said it so so many times. There is no safe zone in Gaza. No place is safe. No-one is safe. No place is spared." says @JulietteTouma to @BBCWorld.

This is to be welcomed and is a strong message from the UK to Israel. The Israeli Knesset's banning of UNWRA is a violation of their obligations under international law and would prevent life-saving aid reaching Palestinians in need. It is completely unacceptable.
Laws mean nothing without enforcement. Impunity allows violence to thrive. Governments must take robust measures to protect women by enforcing laws, allocating resources, and strengthening partnerships.

@ecomarxi In less than 14 months, we went through:
“Israel is acting according to international law.”
“Israel is not violating international law because…”
“International law doesn't apply to Israel because…”
“International law must be abolished because of Israel.”
🚨We have taken the difficult decision to pause aid delivery through Kerem Shalom. It is the main crossing point for humanitarian aid into #Gaza, and the road out of it has not been safe for months.
On 16 November, a convoy of aid trucks was stolen by armed gangs. Yesterday, we tried to bring in a few food trucks and they were all taken.
The responsibility to protect aid workers and supplies lies with the State of Israel as the occupying power. They must ensure aid flows into Gaza safely.

#BREAKING 🛑:
We are pausing the delivery of aid through Kerem Shalom, the main crossing point for humanitarian aid into #Gaza.
The road out of this crossing has not been safe for months.
On 16 November, a large convoy of aid trucks was stolen by armed gangs.
Yesterday, we tried to bring in a few food trucks on the same route. They were all taken.
This difficult decision comes at a time hunger is rapidly deepening.
The delivery of humanitarian aid must never be dangerous or turn into an ordeal.
In #Gaza, the humanitarian operation has become unnecessarily impossible due to:
- The ongoing siege,
- Hurdles from Israeli authorities,
- Political decisions to restrict the amounts of aid,
- Lack of safety on aid routes and
- Targeting of local police.
All of the above led to a breakdown in law and order.
The responsibility of protection of aid workers + supplies is with the State of Israel as the occupying power.
They must ensure aid flows into Gaza safely & must refrain from attacks on humanitarian workers.
I call once again for a #ceasefire that would also secure the delivery of safe & uninterrupted aid to people in need.
