Lots of💡insightful💡recommendations in here from @FrontierEcon and others on getting to #NetZero. But for me the quickest of quick wins: making Air Passenger Duty fit for purpose as an emissions reduction policy🛩️✈️🚀
@TurkishAirlines@igairport@NatGeoTravel@NatGeo@natgeotvturkiye PSA: You terminated my Istanbul-Sydney flight in Dubai and refused to provide assistance with on-forward travel. Your help desk says that I am entitled to no compensation and gives no further explanation. Is this how "Europe's best airline" aspires to treat its passengers?

Net Zero is great; near-term action is even better
A reminder of our advice: the UK should put into law a 6th Carbon Budget requiring a 78% reduction in territorial emissions between 1990 and 2035, including those from international aviation and shipping

Can't emphasize enough how major this is. No U.S. free trade agreement to date has directly acknowledged climate change. This is a huge step forward, and a powerful example of how elections have consequences. So delighted @amprog could host @AmbassadorTai

🇪🇺 For the first time the EU got more electricity from renewables than fossil fuels in 2020.
Just added 2020 electricity data for the EU-27 & UK to @OurWorldInData.
This update comes from @EmberClimate – big thanks to them for their latest analysis.

What does the #MinimumWage have to do with the price of fish?
Not all that much. But UK min wages do cause small increases in the prices of some things like cleaning, childcare and takeaways.
We find that doubling the min wage could increase some prices by up to 11%.
We've published a blog this morning about a project by researchers @cavinwilson@FrontierEcon looking at the effect of the NLW on prices and business performance.

This approach lets us zoom in on the products/places where we are most likely to find an impact.
And we do find it. Some prices go up by around 0.5% each time the NLW is increased. But the main thing this tells us is that most costs are not being passed on to consumers.

@seeds_we_sow@benatipsosmori@HollieNuisance The other way to see this is that the 75+ group which accounted for ~3/4 of deaths will all have access to the vaccine by the end of January. If correct, this is hugely promising.
