In his capacity as Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation of Senegal and President of AMCOW, @cheikhtdieye took part in the 8th edition of @cairowaterweek, which illustrates Africa's desire to actively contribute to more sustainable global water governance and to place water issues at the heart of the climate and multilateral agenda.

Senegal remains committed to working with its partners to ensure that the 3rd UN Water Conference, which it will co-host with the UAE, is a major turning point.

Mission à Belgrade : le Sénégal rayonne dans les Partenariats Public-Privé (PPP) pour l’eau résiliente au climat.

Heureux d’avoir conduit la délégation du Sénégal au 9ᵉ Forum sur les PPP de la CEE-ONU à Belgrade, en République de Serbie. Lors de la table ronde ministérielle, j’ai partagé notre expertise en matière d’infrastructures hydrauliques résilientes, illustrée par le modèle de PPP avec Sen’eau, combinant technologies innovantes, digitalisation, énergies renouvelables et intelligence artificielle pour garantir une gestion durable de l’eau.

Cette expérience sénégalaise démontre, encore une fois, que les modèles de PPP innovants, associant expertise publique et dynamisme privé, peuvent concilier performance opérationnelle, impératifs environnementaux et accès équitable à une ressource vitale.

Une immense fierté d’avoir soutenu le projet Sen’eau, sélectionné comme le seul projet africain retenu parmi 50 initiatives mondiales par la CEE-ONU. Nous consoliderons les acquis de ce partenariat Public-Privé, tout en y apportant les améliorations nécessaires pour le rendre plus performant et plus apte à satisfaire les besoins de nos concitoyens.

En perspective de la Conférence des Nations Unies sur l’eau de 2026, que le Sénégal co-organisera avec les Émirats arabes unis, et dans le cadre de notre présidence du Conseil des Ministres Africains de l’Eau (AMCOW), nous renforcerons notre plaidoyer pour l’eau et le climat.

At #COP16Riyadh, UAE and Senegal shared their vision for the UN 2026 Water Conference, aiming to accelerate global water action and prioritize water on the international agenda.

Ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water Policymakers and experts highlighted that innovation, capacity building, investments - including from the private sector, and expanded multi-stakeholder cooperation are necessary to transform ideas into action.

Ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation will accelerate the achievement of #SDG6 and help unlock all 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
