Young Canadians are facing one of the toughest job markets in years 📉
Missing out on early work experience can slow skill development, delay future entrepreneurship, and impact important life milestones.
At the same time, small businesses, which employ 64% of Canada’s private-sector workforce, are navigating high costs and economic uncertainty, making it harder to create entry-level opportunities and train the next generation of talent.

Great news for small businesses! The passage of Ontario's budget bill today means that starting July 1, small businesses in all sectors across Ontario will start to benefit from a permanent, 3.2% to 2.2% cut to the Small Business Tax Rate. This meaningful measure will create savings of up to $5,000 every year for 375,000 small businesses! @CFIBNews@fordnation@PBethlenfalvy@ninatangri@C_Mulroney

📣 A major win for Ontario’s small businesses! The Small Business Tax Rate is dropping from 3.2% to 2.2% effective July 1, 2026, benefiting 375,000 businesses across the province.
This change follows a targeted advocacy campaign from CFIB Ontario and more than 11,000 small business owners who spoke up and pushed for action.
Thank you to everyone who signed the petition to help make this happen. We will keep advocating to increase the SBTR income threshold and reducing red tape to make it easier to run a small business in Ontario.

📊 Canada is in the middle of an entrepreneurial drought. For the past six quarters, more businesses have closed than opened.
Small businesses are being crushed by high taxes, rising payroll costs, endless red tape, and ballooning government spending, all while giant subsidies flow to multinational corporations. It’s time for the government to walk the talk and support the backbone of our economy.
That’s why we’re calling for clear action: reduce red tape, lower the cost of doing business, and remove barriers to growth!

Signage has always been a contentious issue for small businesses and this is an example of the type of red tape @CFIBNews highlights during Red Tape Awareness Week™.
We hope that this will be addressed in an upcoming city report on red tape reduction measures.

Great to attend the 2026 Grow Ontario Food Summit yesterday hosted by Minister @TrevorJonesCKL
The summit provides a forum for small agribusinesses to have their voices heard on issues like the need for mutual recognition when it comes to internal trade and overall reduced red tape.
@Cfibnews was also able to talk to the Minister about the positive impact of the recent Small Business Tax Rate reduction that will also support agribusinesses across the province.

“Kudos to the Ontario government for responding to CFIB members’ top priority to lower the Small Business Tax Rate. Our 40,000 members across all sectors and regions of the province have told us they would invest any tax savings in measures like increasing
employee compensation, expanding their operations, and hiring new employees – so it’s a win for businesses, people, and the economy.”
