How much longer must the Kuki civilians in the IT Road area remain exposed to insecurity while their repeated demand for security escort goes unanswered?

The KukiCommunity has repeatedly demanded continuous 24/7 security escort for civilians, transporters and essential supplies along the vulnerable stretches of the IT Road. Yet, according to the community, adequate protection has still not been provided.

Reports of threats involving armed groups, including NSCN (IM) and ZUF Kamson, have created serious fear among civilians. The community has also raised concerns about security threats connected to armed actors operating from across the Myanmar border.

At the same time, medicine, LPG, food, fuel and other essential commodities are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. When civilian movement and supply carriers are disrupted, ordinary families suffer first.

Security forces cannot remain passive when civilians are asking for protection.

The responsibility of the Government and security agencies is clear: protect civilian life, secure vulnerable roads and ensure uninterrupted movement of essential supplies.

The KukiCommunity is not asking for confrontation. It is demanding safe passage, protection and basic humanitarian access.

WHEN NAGA LEADERS AND CADRES THEMSELVES BECOME VICTIMS — WHO WILL ANSWER?

The question raised by this poster deserves serious attention: why have so many Naga leaders, political figures and people associated with Naga society themselves been killed in conflicts involving Naga armed factions?

This is not about blaming an entire Naga community. Naga civilians, leaders and communities are not the same as armed organisations. The issue is the conduct and accountability of armed groups.

There are documented cases that demand scrutiny. Yangmaso Shaiza, former Chief Minister of Manipur, was assassinated in 1984; contemporary accounts attribute the killing to NSCN.

The killing of Tirong Aboh, Arunachal Pradesh MLA, and 10 others in May 2019 was investigated by the NIA. The agency continues to list the case as an investigation into the killing, while contemporary reporting linked suspected NSCN-IM militants to the attack. An NSCN-IM area commander was subsequently arrested in connection with the case.

The death of Athuan Abonmai in 2021 also became an NIA case. The NIA's case record states that accused persons and associates were suspected members of NSCN(IM) and that the case was taken over for investigation.

There was also controversy surrounding the funeral of former Manipur Chief Minister Rishang Keishing in 2017. Reports said his remains were buried in Imphal rather than his native village amid alleged NSCN(IM) threats; importantly, NSCN(IM) denied that it had imposed restrictions, so that allegation should not be presented as an established fact.

These cases raise a difficult but important question:

If armed organisations claim to speak for the Naga people, why have Naga political leaders, Naga civilians and even people within the wider Naga society repeatedly become victims of armed conflict?

And when such killings occur, who takes responsibility? Who investigates? Who answers the families?

The lesson should not be another cycle of collective hatred. The lesson should be accountability.

An armed organisation cannot claim to represent a people while civilians and political leaders live under fear.

Naga lives matter.
Kuki lives matter.
Meitei lives matter.
Every civilian life matters.

No armed group should receive immunity because of ethnicity, political affiliation or the identity it claims to represent.

Investigate every killing.
Name the perpetrators based on evidence.
Expose the chain of command.
Prosecute those responsible.
Protect civilians from every armed organisation.

History must not be selectively remembered. The victims deserve the truth, regardless of who they were or which community they belonged to.

The killing of Nk. Wiphenbou must not be turned into a weapon for spreading an unverified communal narrative. Reports confirm that the 17-year-old was killed in the Tamei area on 21 September 2026, but the identity of those responsible remains under investigation.

If the evidence shows that Nk. Wiphenbou was an active NSCN-IM cadre, that fact should be investigated and established through credible evidence. His alleged organisational association, however, does not by itself establish who killed him.

What is unacceptable is presenting “KukiCommunity killed him” as an established fact when the available reports themselves say the perpetrators had not been confirmed. Even reports carrying allegations against suspected Kuki armed groups acknowledge that those allegations could not be independently verified.

Do not manufacture facts.
Do not turn an unverified allegation into communal blame.
Do not use a young person's death to spread misinformation.

The demand should be simple:

FULL INVESTIGATION.
IDENTIFY THE ACTUAL KILLERS.
PRESENT THE EVIDENCE.
TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THOSE RESPONSIBLE.

I strongly condemn the reported spraying of an unknown substance on this rice field, which has allegedly caused the crops to slowly wither and die.

Rice is not merely a crop—it is food, livelihood and survival for countless families. Destroying a rice field means destroying months of a farmer’s hard work and threatening the daily food supply of an entire community. If this was done deliberately, it is an inhuman and criminal act that must never be tolerated.

The authorities must immediately investigate the incident,

No individual or group has the right to weaponise food or attack innocent farmers. Those responsible must be identified and held fully accountable. An attack on a rice field is an attack on life itself.

JUSTICE FOR NEIESTHER GANGTE — HER LIFE MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN

With profound sorrow, we mourn the death of Miss Neiesther Gangte, aged 21, who passed away on 20 September 2026 after fighting for her life following the severe injuries she sustained in the 13 September attack at Longpi, Noney district. Contemporary reports identified her as critically injured in that attack, while Julie Gangte and Thangvel Roel Gangte were killed.

Neiesther was taken for medical treatment after suffering life-threatening injuries. Reports also described the enormous difficulty involved in evacuating her from the remote area before she could receive advanced medical care.

Today, her fight has ended. Her family has lost a daughter, sister and beloved member of their family.

There are serious questions that demand answers.

Who carried out the attack? Why were vulnerable civilians travelling through such a dangerous area left exposed? Why did a critically injured young woman have to fight not only her injuries but also the enormous challenges of emergency evacuation?

Kuki-Zo organisations have alleged that NSCN-IM cadres were operating through or alongside ZUF-K and Naga Village Guards in connection with the September 13 attacks. However, police and other reports have described the attackers as unidentified, and no group has publicly claimed responsibility. The perpetrators must therefore be established through a credible investigation and brought before the law.

Neiesther's death must not become another unanswered case.

We demand a transparent, independent and time-bound investigation into the Longpi attack, accountability for everyone found responsible, and effective protection for civilians living in vulnerable areas.

One young life is gone.
One family is grieving.
One more name must not disappear into silence.
