A few years ago, the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, visited Manipur. During his speech, he accused the Meitei government of employing a divide-and-rule strategy by pitting Nagas against Kukis and Kukis against Nagas.
For Pakistanis, Osama Bin Laden, Hafiz Saeed, Syed Salahuddin & Mohammed Masood are freedom fighters, and their organizations are cultural. Similarly, @NBirenSingh & @MaharajaManipur have similar perceptions about Arambai, UNLF, and PLA. @PMOIndia@HMOIndia@PIBHomeAffairs@ANI

In today's @thetribunechd I examine why the violent protests in #Manipur may represent an act of bravado to showcase Arambais' prowess & power projection by some legislators, yet it puts on trial the efficacy of our rule-based constitutional order https://t.co/a4v242d18u
Between 2000 and 2002, when Meitei supremacy was at its peak in Jakhradhor, the Meiteis drove out several non-Manipuri Indians and established a settlement, renaming it Lamtai Khunou. This area later became the base of the UNLF, which remains there to this day. After violence erupted on May 4, Meitei armed men and militants sought refuge in PS Jakhradhor, which is officially Borobekhra PS, and have been protected by Meitei commandos ever since. Despite their extensive armories and supplies, they remain insecure and are guarded by the CRPF on the periphery.
The First Anglo-Kuki War (1845-1871) was fought against British encroachment on Kuki lands in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Cachar & Karbi Anglong. The 2nd wave, starting on 17th Oct 1917, raged in Manipur until 8th Dec 1919.
While Kukis fiercely defended their sovereignty, some descendants of those cowering in fear now attempt to erase this chapter of resistance.

📍MANIPUR:JIRIBAM MASSACRE CRPF KILLED 11 KUKI YOUTHS
It is profoundly unjust that the KukiZo tribal minority communities continue to suffer violence and persecution while the government and its agencies fail to protect them. The recent tragic loss of 11 Kukizo youth, killed after being coerced by the CRPF into a meeting and then ambushed, underscores a serious abuse of power and a breach of trust. These young men, who stood as defenders of their villages, believed they were engaging with the security forces in good faith, only to be targeted by those who were sworn to protect them. Allegedly, this act was carried out under the influence of Meitei CRPF DIG & OC, raising grave questions about the motives and intentions behind the attack.
This situation reveals a disturbing double standard when heavily armed Meitei militants, often equipped with sophisticated weaponry, launch attacks on tribal communities, security forces reportedly remain passive. Yet, when it comes to targeting village defenders, those same forces act decisively and lethally.
It is the duty of a just government to protect all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity or political influence, and to intervene against violence directed toward any community. The selective enforcement of law and order undermines this duty and fosters a climate of fear and injustice. Such inaction against the Meitei militant attacks and the simultaneous willingness to use force against village defenders are unconscionable violations of human rights and betrayals of public trust.
True justice demands that the government recognize and protect the lives and rights of the tribal minority community rather than allowing biases to influence the actions of security forces. Without accountability and a commitment to impartiality, the state fails its citizens, leaving the minority kukizo communities vulnerable to violence and exploitation. It is imperative that the government and its agencies hold themselves to a standard of integrity, ensuring justice, security, and dignity for all for once.
