We can’t carry both a cross and a sword. We can’t follow both Jesus and Caesar. Our allegiance can only be for one Lord.
This morning, I had to remind my daughter to run, and if she can’t run, to hide and her teachers will protect her if someone comes on campus to do bad things and hurt people. I was gentle. She was scared. My youngest can’t process this, so we didn’t talk about it.

Episcopal friends, we are talking about prayer and confession this week, and are exploring the exhortation and prayer of humble access as a part of it. How would you preach/teach the shame-y language in the exhortation in a way that is life-giving?
Today marks two years into the pandemic. Going for a run to prepare myself for “the pandemic is over, do all the things” letters that are surely coming, followed by the emails and phone calls about what’s next. 🤷🏻♀️
